Part of the Downtown LA Beer Crawl Italian Beer seminar led by Tomm Carroll. Quite interesting and so different even factoring in the oddity of some Italian ingredients. Nose is very floral and the taste is light and refreshing with some herbal notes.

Bottle shared with cousins on Martha’s Vineyard, MA. Pours cloudy gold with a light, white foam head. Aroma holds some tangy grass. Medium sweet flavor, mild white bread, some lemon and faint herbal bitterness. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish of doughy malts, touches of tangy herbs and lemon, light grassy bitters. Lasting doughy malts. Kind of interesting, and decent.

Hazy gold with particles of sediment. Nice, crisp white head, big streaks of lace. Looks good. Autumn grass and caramel malt are infused with delicate spices. Flavor grows pleasantly to a light bitter finish that lingers for just a moment. A superior summer brew, well worth seeking out. Highly recommended.

Bottle 750 ml
Aroma mild hint of spice. Some heat, sweet bottom, phenolic base.
Appearance pours as amber-gold with medium white cap.
Flavor and Palate : frontal harshness of spice, strong phenolic notes in wrong way. Medicinal, vegetal with some sulphuric follow up. Flawed, not very drinkable. Bad bottle?

Birra dal colore giallo vivace. Maltata al naso, sorprendente in bocca. La genziana è presente ma non invadente. Retrogusto quasi fresco e poco amaro che resta in bocca per molto

Pours gold with a small head. Nose shows floral, herbal and soft fruity notes (apples, pears). Underneath is very faint honey and bready malt. Very floral flavours too, with what is presumably the gentian taking centre stage. Underneath is bready malt, honey and spicy hops. Carbonation is nicely high.

Bottled. Pours hazy orangy amber with a small off- white head. Fruity nose with caramel and notes of yeast. Sweet flavor with citrus, peachy notes and caramel notes. Medium bodied, watery to creamy texture and soft carbonation. Ends up dr with yeasty notes.

Growler. Gold with a modest white head that’s soon gone. Aroma of oranges, peaches, bitter herbs, licorice. Sweet with stone fruit, oranges, gentle herbal bitterness, pepper, licorice. A somewhat exotic golden ale that’s a bit oversweet for me.
