UPDATED: MAY 30, 2014 Bottle from Mane Liquor. Dark murky brown pour with a small ram head and nice lacing. Nose shows burnt and ashy malts with bitter chocolate and citrus. Quite bitter through the taste. Dark chocolate with hints of citrus zest and charcoal notes. Heavily roasted almost burnt tones throughout. A little over carbonated but other than that quite pleasing

17-NOV-2013, bottle @Morten. Hazy amber with huge tan head. Aroma is soap, grape fruit and pine. Taste is soap, spice, tired hops, licorice. High carbonation, medium body. Not black, not really roasted, nor really a Black IPA. Nah!

Bottled. Pours slightly hazy with a medium sized off-white head. Leaving a good lacing. Nose of citrus fruits and caramel. Sweet flavor with graprfruit, lemon, caramel resiney notes. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. Ends up more dry and fairly bitter. A crisp and very nice brew.

Growler. Amber with a modest pale beige head. Aroma of grapefruit, toast, a hint of chocolate. Truly bittersweet - no separate sweetness and bitterness, but lingering grapefruit and pine after sticky breadcrust and a little chocolate depart. Chirpy and engaging.

ALLOVATE (2336) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JUN 21, 2014
Hazy, midnight brown with very little life to be seen. Head took a rough pour to evoke but lapses quickly back to a few loose suds of beige that cling desperately to the meniscus. Strong note of sarsaparilla, burnt sugar, camphor and eucalypt on the nose amongst a normal grapefruit base. Mineral-like, chalky mouthfeel with soft, peppery carbonation. Juicy grapefruit back-end that is also bordering on Semillon wine that leaks into the moderately bitter, fruity swallow. Good length; smoky aftertaste is pleasant with the fruity, vinous overtones. Nice, nutty, piney mix mid-palate with a hint of burnt sugar and grapefruit up front. Nothing extraordinarily unique of this one. It is actually quite softly spoken all in all. Very sessionable but lacking in depth. Solid. (33cL, no date stamp, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)
