COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Editor’s note: wrongly listed at 10% in 2013 on the brewery website, while labels report 9.2%

Lightly brown creamy foam. The first aroma perceived is toasted wood and sweet caramel. Aftertaste of bread, chocolate, roasty and licorice. Perfectly balanced and long aftertaste. The oak is not incident.

At a tasting, thanks Stas, very small bubbly head, opaque black color, thick pour, aroma of cocoa, vanila, dark bread and some wood, flacor of chocolate cake, dark bread amd some prunes, surprisingly strong sourness, relativly light body. Nice and quite easy to drink.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Stas’s place. Thanks Stas. Vicous motor oil pitch black with no head. Aroma of roast, dark chocolate, a licorice note and a bit of alcohol. Sweetish and slightly acidic flavor with dark chocolate, a light fruity note and a more roasty finish. Quite full-bodied, rounded mouthfeel. Good.

In bottiglia. Colore nero impenetrabile, schiuma quasi assente.

Bottle from Beer Cartel (May 2014). Inky, oily black, no head at all, cigar ash, soy sauce, bitter coffee, spiced rum, dark fruit cake, oak, relatively thin texture, full body, long boozy finish. Nice.

33cl Bottle: Appearance: An almost black beer. with a small brown head. Aroma: roast, manure, liquorice, marzipan, hints of chocolate and raisin. Flavours of roasted malts, red berries, some hops in the background as well as marzipan.. Taste nice comlex taste with red fruity and hops providing ruityness,a hint o sourness without it being tart,Some roasted chocolate and mochha bittneress. Really wel crafted incase of taste Texture below medium body, soft carbonation. For some reason the body seems to thin for the taste and while allowing very easy drinking, I really got the idea that a bit thicker would have made this probably a excellent brew and not a very good brew.

Bottle takeaway from Mother Kelly’s, Bethnal Green. Poured black, with a scummy tan head. Aroma of rum, oak, cherry and soy sauce. Smooth mouthfeel, with very little carbonation. Musky flavours, with some molasses, chewy grain and toffee. Finish was smooth, with ash, caramel and Oxo.

Aroma of dark malts, liquorice, some coffee and chocolate, dark fruits, raisins. Flavour is sweet with a moderate bittersweet finish. A bit boozy. This is a tasty but definitely not top tier Imperial Stout.

Countbeer (4849) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - NOV 27, 2014
Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Small brown head on top of an almost black colored beer. Aroma is a mix of roast, manure, liquorice, marzipan, hints of chocolate and raisin. Flavours of liquorice, bitters, some roast, some slight hints of hops and more fruit tones, hint of marzipan, some light mocha, bay leaf, some brown sugars, some raisin... Aftertaste is bitter with raisin, brown sugars, liquorice and roast. Low carbo, close to silky mouthfeel, more than medium bodied and a light sticky texture.

Try it. Buona, buona. Meravigliosa, al punto da commuovermi. Questa è birra, lo è decisamente. Dannazione, quanta bontà in un solo bicchiere. La stappo, la verso.. E non so bene a cosa vado incontro. Sentori affumicati, carichi, di frutta rossa come prugna. Assaporò meglio. Caffè carico, cioccolato al caffè, vaniglia. Bel corpo, carbonatazione quasi assente. Facciamo ottime birre. Try it.
