Tap @Luppolo 12, Roma 20.7.2013
Dark brown color, small steady brownish head, lace. Milky, toasted nose and some iron. Medium-bodied. At Luppolo they claimed this 8,5% beer - well it was too weak for that. Toasted, caramelly sweetish well not really sweetish but like licorice candy sweet and salty. Some spiceyness. A bit messy.

Tap at Sheffield Tap. Darkest brown. Tight, lasting, beige head. Aroma is light roast malt. As others have said there is a woodiness, too. Some smokiness. Taste is dry, dark fruit. Light, bitter finish. Had to rush this, mores the pity, but definitely one I’d like to try again.

Keg at the Rake. It pours a deep brownbody with a medium tan head. Aroma is dark chocolate, roasted malts, some smoked wood. Taste is light roasted coffee, liquorice and some delicious smoked notes. Not much in the way of tobacco but definitely a good porter.

Black with a foamy but not very stable head. Aroma of lots of chocolate, roast, coffee, and subtle pipe tobacco. Taste of bitter chocolate and roast. Coffeee. Wood (tobacco?). Palate roasty and a little boozy, but nice.
