Keg at BrewDog Shoreditch. It pours darkest brown with a medium beige head. The nose is roasted malt, earth, dark fruit, liquorice, burnt sugar, light smoke, light vinegar and toast. The taste is roasted malt, brown sugar, cocoa, earth, toast, light tobacco, faint tang and liquorice with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Interesting, flavoursome and rather drinkable.

Dark brown, black in glass, thick tanned head. Smells of roast, yeast and earthy hops. Medium sweet, some roast and toast, thin coffee, hints of tobacco. Moderate bitter, more tobacco. OK porter; don’t know if the tobacco is a plus or a minus to this beer though.

I expected this porter was filled with tobacco in the taste and aroma but it was very difficult to find. There is more coffee to find but it disappears before it gets really funny.

Bottle. 5.2%. Best before 03.13. Pours a dark brown/black with a khaki/brown head. Aroma is roasted and sweetish, and with a wine-like tartness in the vicinity of the glass. A whiff of nail polish deep down. Roasted flavour, sweetish, a bit tart and with a dusty touch. Light dried fruit note as it warms. Finish is roasted with a light tartness, notes of coffee and a bit of alcohol. Lingering grassy note. Overall okay, but as a porter it lacks a a bit of body. Also, no apparant tobacco. 23.02.13.

750ml bottle. Clear darkest brown colour with small, frothy, half-way lasting, off-white head. Dark malty aroma with a milk chocolate touch, herbal background. Taste is dry dark malty, carbonation induced dry herbal overtones, hints of laurel, tobacco for my sake.

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Chocolate, ash, coffee and Tia Maria in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor with chocolate, ash and coffee. Coffee burned aftertaste with Tia Maria. Expensive, but nice.

750ml bottle. Very well carbonated with a huge light brown foam and a light black cola colour. Burnt malt aroma with a sweet and bitter flavour at the same time. Another good Italian beer.
