Bottle at EBBC12. Coffee and treacle nose, body is smooth with liquorice, treacle and coffee notes and hints of smoke and tobacco (not tobacco smoke!).

Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, smoke, tobacco, some peat. Flavour is light sweet with a dry and moderate bitter finish. Body is on the light side. Enjoyable.

From Craftissimo. Opaque watery brown-black with no head or lacing. Smells of raisin, nutty dark malt, some smoke. Tastes nicely bitter, ash, citrus, dark but with a crisp acidity. Body is thin but quite smooth. Aroma is too sour/raisiny for me but otherwise a surprisingly bitter enjoyable porter.

Bottle from Craftissimo at home. Dark brown/light black pour with tan head. Aroma is roasted, sweet, slightly sour and hoppy. Taste is sort of sour/tart on top of a brown ale/light porter. Also very bitter hoppy towards the end. Tart and a bit smoky finish. Big flavor despite the somewhat light body. Not as smoky as I expected, which is fine. Interesting beer - tasty too. Would get again.

UPDATED: OCT 26, 2014 9/28/2014 Bottle at home (batch LS14111, best before 11 2013). Pours very dark brown to black with a fizzle, but no head. Aroma is smokey, roasted malts, chocolate, hint of cigar, peaty. Taste is sweet, chocolate, roasted malts, smokey, cigar, peaty, hint of bitter with lots of chocolate and cigar in the aftertaste. Very nice. 10/26/2014. Bottle at home (33 cl, batch LS5014, best before 03 2016). Pours dark with a tan head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malts, less of the cigar and smokey/peatiness, however. Bit thinner, but still lots of chocolate and tobacco, roasted malts. Nice, but definitely better when aged. 8/4/7/4/15.

Bottle from Mother Kelly’s. Unusual to have tobacco leaf in a porter. Roasted & cigar leaf aroma, slight spiciness on the palate, but finishes a little thinner than expected. Some more roast in the flavour would have been good.

Tobacco beer with quickly dissolving, loose, off-white head and near black colour with yellowish brown hue. Smoky aroma, toasted, peaty single malt, raisins, pipe tobacco, sage, chocolate, leather; bitter chocolate and faintly sweetish caramel malts in the mouth, dry and spicy, explicitly smoky like a peaty whisky, hint of hot spiciness in the finish. Weird but very tasteful.
