1/24/15. Sour Beer Day hanging out with Mrs. Owl between two trips! 375mL bottle from Chan’s, Destin. Hazed neon red pour with a very small pink khaki head that fades to nothing and doesn’t lace at all. Funky aroma, wood, something that reminds me of a spirit barrel, lots of cherry, cherry pie spice, a bit of tartness. I dig the flavor, though, a little funky, vanilla, oak, lots of cherry/cherry pie, a bit of a lingering metallic chalkiness. Otherwise tasty!

11.1 ounce bottle. Pours a reddish brown with a thin white head that fades. Taste is of tart cherries, wood, grass, malt and spice. Tart cherry aroma. Has a nice body with a dry and bitter finish. Has a nice sourness to it.

Handpump at Lambic Zoon, Milan
Hazy red-amber color with frothy head. Delicate fruity/cherry aroma. Dry but soft mouthfeel, lowly carbonated; delicate flavor with nice fruity touch; low bitterness; mild astringency in the final.
Elegant beer; the handpump reduces the carbonation and boosts the flavors; excellent.

Bottle thanks to lukaduke. Small format bottle poured into a snifter. Pours a clear red with a light pink head of foam. The aroma has fruity acidity, cherry pie filling, and a bit of oxidation. Taste has papery dry fruit. Not much fruit presence, though. Medium body and medium carbonation.

Currants, subtle oak and cheese underneath. Clear maroon, medium pink head. Currant, sour cherries at midpalate, plum finish. Cask-like carbonation, light body, pleasantly tart. Expensive, but I don’t exactly feel cheated either.

Pours a rosey copper color with a finger of fizzy foam that settles out quickly. Nice soft rustic beer with a dusty field grain backbone that is enhanced by tart cherry skin, wet earth stem and pits, lingering vinous acidity and elegant balance between fruit and grain. Crushable and unique.

This Italian Kriek is a great blend of sweetness without much of the sour tones of its Belgian counterparts. With little aroma but a rich full bodied appearance. It tastes sweet on the tongue and doesn’t linger for long. Great pairing with spicy foods.
