(Bottled, 0.75l) Clear red-copper with a very large, foamy, lasting and lacy head (burst out of bottle). Aromatic-pine-hoppy nose with exotic fruit and toffeeish malt. Flavor of toffeeish malt, aromatic piney hops, lots of fruit, dry and bitter finish. Medium body with slightly foamy, soft carbonation. Nicely hoppy, nicely balanced, reasonably low ABV. I like!

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2010 Bottle. Mondiale 2009 - day 3. Slightly hazy light amber with a small off-white diminishing head (3-). Dry aroma of plasticine and citrus, but for some reason I sort of dug it. The taste was a surprisingly mash-up of thick apricot sweetness and dry resin bitterness, not much alcohol asserting itself - odd. Thick, still mouthfeel, with a late-arriving solid kick of hoppy bitterness in the tail - it grew on me a lot.***** re-rate, January 2010 - shared with blankboy, garthicus & swoopjones - take everything I said above and just put "pretty awesome" in front of it - my score got boosted by .6!!!

Tap @ The Malt House - Pours light brown, hazy with a fluffy white head. Aroma is light hops and some fruity sweetness. There’s some smooth malt and spice in there...maybe nutmeg or allspice? I’m not a fan of the brettyness in here--it smells like a shower curtain, kind of what the NG Golden Ale smells like. The rest of the taste is pleasant, however--smooth malt and some light, spicy hops. It’s very balanced, but comes out a bit bland. Would be easy to drink a lot of these, but it isn’t terribly interesting. It is smooth and creamy, however, and leaves some nice resin as it makes its way through the mouth. Solid.
