Crosling (1660), Loveland, Colorado, USA May 12, 2008 Draught, Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fà, Rome, Italy. Golden color. Full head. Hop accented nose with lots of other character, malt and yeast derived smells, fruit. Flavor is hoppy, lots of yeast character. Lots of taste and character. Drinkable, unique, big for its size. A great IPA. Criminally underrated. Scauca (260), Lovere, Italy Jul 14, 2008 Hand pumped served at real ales’ temperature at "Macchesietevenutiafà?" in Rome. Dark amber with a lasting creamy beige head on top. Amazing aroma, luscious palate, complex flavour, assertive lingering bitter end. Superb. maxbeer (115), Italy Aug 19, 2005 Updated: Sep 15, 2005Draught, handpump at Artebirra 2005 (italian craft beer festival).
Deep amber colour with small beige head. Nice, slightly citric hop aroma. In the mouth the strong bitterness is balanced by athe good body and the malt background. Low carbonation. Long finish.
Very good, it had the bitterness and strength of an american IPA but a very english character. I also tasted a keg version the same day, but although being a good beer it lost some points because the higher carbonation decreased the body and the perception of the malt, losing some balance and the "english feel" (7/4/7/3/14).
I can only guess that the travel to GBBF killed this beer! You have to come to Italy to try it again... Bov (4659), Bienne, Switzerland Nov 29, 2006 courtesy of Laurent Mousson - slightly hazy reddish-amber colour, nice creamy beige head; aroma of cream and blackcurrant; very soft mouthfeel and a low carbonation; solid bitterness and a long hoppy finish with more notes of blackcurrant - generous and impressive Svesse (1811), Hässelby, Sweden Aug 26, 2006 (Bottle at GBBF, London, 3 Aug) Colour is amber, hazy, with an off-white head. Nose is fruity with loads of grapefruit and a lovely Cascade hop character. Taste is fruity with grapefruit, apricots, dried fruit, plums and cherries. Long hoppy finish. Very complex and quite brilliant. It seems most of the raters got the same infected batch, give it a new chance when fresh. It’s very nice.
