Pours a deep amber color, with a two finger off white head that had some staying power. Aromas of hops, sweet malts, and some more hops. Flavor isn’t as sweet as I was led to believe. You can taste the alcohol from the get go, what follows is a nice mellow caramel/brown sugar (I Guess) sweetness that finishes with a nice bitter hop.

Bottle. Light hazy deep brown liquid with minimal tan head. Aroma of chocolate, red onion, wood, lemon, coffee, red wine, red berries and oak. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with notes of red berries, chocolate, raisins, tannins and oak. Full bodied with low carbonation. Nice, but a bit sour and weird. Reminds me of Oud Bruin.

First batch bottled in 2008, shared by Mortlach. 8 years old. Thanks. Dark caramel, no foam. Nose: powerful aroma of red fruit jam, macerated fruit, dry figs. Nice. Mouth: far too flat, oxidation did not work well, gone cola. This bottle has not aged well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Mycket mörk brun, ingen kolsyra. Doft: Lite funk, kakao, fat/trä, lite körsbärsvin, mörk fruktkaka, lite romrussin. Stark 7:a. Smak: Som doft + lite rostat. Jäkligt god, alkoholen märks inte alls i smaken.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Cloudy dark brown, almost flat. Vinous nose with coffee and black pepper. Sweet with a distinct woody tartness, full bodied with well rounded mouthfeel. Tart vinous wood dominates. Port and dark rye bread. Despite it’s size the malt character is never bold, just rich. A slight warmth in a mid bitter finish. Balanced and relaxed, yet with a hue WOW-factor.

UPDATED: APR 1, 2016 Flaska systembolaget.

Warming, tart, Green apples, dried fruits, prunes, raisins, light, light sweet licorice, earthy and light grassiness. Dark dark Brown with red hues, no head. Heavy sweetness, fruity, grapey, very much winelike, low bitterness, good amount of acidity and a bit astringent, ABV evident, but dangerously well hidden Fullbodied oily feel no carbonation, warming finish. this is the beer equivalent to a real good amarone wine. A treat
