COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Birra Moretti La Rossa is a double bock beer produced using high quality 100% malted barley, giving it a rich sweet taste and an intense fragrance of roasted malt. The amber colour that characterizes the beer, comes from kind of malt used in the recipe (malt is dried, roasted barley). Another key ingredients is hops, the variety used is particularly aromatic, giving a characteristic bitter aftertaste and a delicate fragrance to the beer. The Master Brewers advise a service temperature between 10° and 12° C.

Bottle - pours ruby red with a thin head that disappears quickly. A malty brew that tastes more like an ale than a doppelbock.

Bottle. This was one of the first "good" beers that I ever liked, but I haven’t had it in over six years. I wanted to see if it still holds up 1,000 beers later. Pours crystal clear maroon/chestnut brown. Nice-looking head dissipates rather quickly leaving behind no lacing. A lot more carbonated than expected. Flavors of mild caramel, vanilla, and stone fruit with some mild coffee flavors on the back end. More complex than I expected. Low hopping leaves this a little on the sweet side. Strangely it almost reminds me of an unsoured Flanders Red in terms of color, hopping and background flavors. I can see how young Me would have liked this. It holds up reasonably well to my memories, but with age comes wisdom and now I know of several better doppelbocks out there. This was still a nice trip down memory lane.

Pours a dark amber with a modest head and very light lace. Taste is of sweet caramel malt with a slight bittering late to balance things. A very nice brew, particularly if you are not a hophead.

Nose is full of roasty, nutty malts with some yeast and bread in the mix. Slight fruity tone as well. Poured a nice brown with a big tan colored head. Taste was that of toffee and light chocolate with some yeast and bread notes. This was better than expected.

nice malty aroma has also got some acidity from roasted malt and some good dark dried fruit. soft malty flavor, sweet and sticky. some banana and clove throughout. somewhat syrupy and the burnt coffee acidity isn’t so good, but otherwise pretty tasty.

11.2oz pours reddish brown with a thin brown head. Aromas of slightly roasted toffee and camel malts. Flavor is slightly sweet and buscuity with a bready taste with cereal and graina also some bitterness comes through. Body is medium and finish leaves a toast flavor.

Aroma of dark carmel and treacle. Ruby brown beer with thick pillowed tan head. Taste is sweet pronouncing the carmel, molassess, and raisin character. Light how bitterness on chewy finish. Full bodied.

One of my favorites. It’s simple, but yet very tasty. It packs a good ABV and is highly drinkable. I was a bit surprised when I saw the lower rating here on ratebeer, but it is a bit short on the palate. It doesn’t go well with any food except maybe certain sea-fare or salads. But given the price-point ($6.99) a sixer, and the over-all experience of this brew, I find myself enjoying this one again and again. I need to try the other Birra Moretti but honestly, am a bit afraid that they will match the reviews unlike this one.
