COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Birra Moretti La Rossa is a double bock beer produced using high quality 100% malted barley, giving it a rich sweet taste and an intense fragrance of roasted malt. The amber colour that characterizes the beer, comes from kind of malt used in the recipe (malt is dried, roasted barley). Another key ingredients is hops, the variety used is particularly aromatic, giving a characteristic bitter aftertaste and a delicate fragrance to the beer. The Master Brewers advise a service temperature between 10° and 12° C.

My God. I usually hold very little faith in the beers from my motherland, but this was a great surprise. Pours out a beautiful cherry color, as suggested by the name. The aroma is toffee and malt, and the flavor follows suit with the addition of a good bit of toasted wheat. Delicious. Sempre Italia!

Aroma is very malty with a lot of toasted bread, light caramel and toffee. Some fruit notes that seem more from the malt than the yeast - cherry, plum and raisin. No hop aroma or deacetylated. Faint hint of chocolate as it warms. Pours a clear, very dark amber with a moderately thick light tan head that shows good retention. Medium light lacing and faint legs. Flavor is fairly sweet and malty. Lots of toasted bread, caramel and toffee. The flavor and aroma both reminds me of the smell of a boil over when I am brewing. Medium light bitterness. Medium light raison, cherry and plum notes. Hints of light chocolate. Light roast and toasted bread notes liner in the finish with some sweet cherry and plum along with the bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall a surprisingly decent beer. I remembered liking this beer before I really got into beer and it’s good to see I had at least decent rate before I really stayed geeking out on beer. The malt character does well with the fruit notes.

1/20/2010. From bottle. Pours redbrown with a tan head. Aromas of dark malt, caramel, spice and light fruit. Caramel flavors with bitter hops. Good pizza beer.

Bottled. Red- amber pour with a thick light tan head. Malty and light notes of caramel in the aroma. That taste is pretty plain, thin bodied malt and caramel flavor. Overall a really drinkable light beer, not that great of a doppelbock.

Medium class doppelbock. Good choice for those who prefer pale lager beer, but rather boring for the strong flavor fans. Though, i liked how it made me drunk insensibly :) Anyway, 0,33l bottle is not a big challenge even if you do not like it too much.

Bottle at Fritti in Inman Park. This is a really skanky double bock that is one of my least favorite in this style.
