Birra Moretti La Rossa is a double bock beer produced using high quality 100% malted barley, giving it a rich sweet taste and an intense fragrance of roasted malt. The amber colour that characterizes the beer, comes from kind of malt used in the recipe (malt is dried, roasted barley). Another key ingredients is hops, the variety used is particularly aromatic, giving a characteristic bitter aftertaste and a delicate fragrance to the beer. The Master Brewers advise a service temperature between 10 and 12 C.

330ml can poured in a pint jug Beer hunting in Italy is not an easy task :)... Today, micros like: La Baladin, Panil, Montegioco, Birra del Borgo, etc are really good option if you can find them. The majority (if not all) of the mass production beers are really poor. As usual, half of them were bought by Heineken and the other half by Calrsberg :). The Moretti is Heineken, nevertheless, thats a mass production brewery that I could call... Fair. They have, at least, some median flavors, like this one, the DOro and Doppio Malte. A: Clear amber color with a nice beige head. Not bad retention and some lacings as it disappears S: Caramel malts, basically. T: Caramel malts. Brown sugar (quite molasses). Very sweet upfront. Yeasts. Too light bitterness. M: Medium body and medium to light carbonation D: Not bad [ BA Review @ 9/3/2010 ]

33cl bottle. Pours clear dark reddish with one finger of quickly disappearing light beige head. Aroma is very light, some caramel and a light metallic note. Taste is roasted malts and caramel with light plums notes.

Bottle from Tesco, consumed at home. Ruddy brown, clear-ish. Small tan head. Black cherry, basil, toast and chocolate malt aroma. Sweet and fruity taste with a heavy malty character. Full palette with plentiful carbonation. A well-crafted strong beer. Would I have this again? In a hot minute.

Nose is caramel, nuts slight coco. Taste is overpoweringly sweet, slight nut and caramel with the faintest smoke in the finish. Touch of metallic. Mouth feel is fine. The sweetness overpowers and drowns out all the interest.
