2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 mile (1447) - Helsinki, FINLAND - SEP 30, 2011
Bottle. Dark amber, small and fully diminishing head. Moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, caramel, some bread and alcohol. Body is medium, malty and sweetish flavor, caramel, some bread and alcohol. Finish is average, malty and sweetish, some caramel, alcohol. Sweetish bock with caramel, quite one-dimensional and uninteresting brew.
3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20 AWMiller (512) - Mansfield, Texas, USA - SEP 21, 2011
A great Italian brew (and probably the darkest Italian brew you’ll find in Italy)! This brew pours up a rich ruby-brown body with a frothy two-finger head. Scents and flavors of caramel, roasted malts, and sweet molasses. Very rich with a clean, crisp finish and no harsh aftertaste.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 luttonm (960) - Belgrade, SERBIA - SEP 16, 2011
.33l bottle, Italy. Rich ruby-brown pour with off-white head. Toasted grain, a touch sour. Bright. Rich body, toasty malts and deep roast. Dark and smooth, nice burnt grain. Bit too polished but still very tasty.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 TheRealMGD (385) - Lakewood, Washington, USA - SEP 14, 2011
Bottle at a small pizza place (That’s Amore) in Auckland CBD. Clear, dark amber pour with a beige head leaving minimal lace. Malty, candy nose. Medium body and carbonation. Bubblegum, yam, cotton candy and some bread. Finish has some earthiness which may be the type of hops used, but it’s still fairly sweet. I’m not very familiar with this style, but this one doesn’t have lots of appeal.

Aroma is floral and yeasty. Dark red, small offwhite head. Taste is malty, yeasty and sour. Medium body, carbonation has a foamy feel. Too little hops for my taste.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Chipalsa (703) - Florida, USA - AUG 20, 2011
Poured a beautiful brown with lots of bubbles and a thick head. Smelled of yeast and caramel, more like toffee almost. Tasted like caramel corn with a touch of hops. Finished a little tangy, like the aftertaste of a morning coffee, and was most satisfying.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 mansquito (1812) - washington, Washington DC, USA - AUG 15, 2011
Chevy Chase Wine and Beverages, DC 330ml ($2-3): Pours a ruby color with a quickly dissipating head. Aroma is of malty sweetness, with a hint of brandy. Taste is a little cloyingly sweet and the front and descends into an every so slightly bitter finish, although the sweetness lingers on into the aftertaste. Not a great doppelbock, but surprising that Birra Moretti makes this along with their more mainstream offerings.
