COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Birra Moretti La Rossa is a double bock beer produced using high quality 100% malted barley, giving it a rich sweet taste and an intense fragrance of roasted malt. The amber colour that characterizes the beer, comes from kind of malt used in the recipe (malt is dried, roasted barley). Another key ingredients is hops, the variety used is particularly aromatic, giving a characteristic bitter aftertaste and a delicate fragrance to the beer. The Master Brewers advise a service temperature between 10° and 12° C.

Kind of smelt and tasted like pizza dough, it also had this realy malty, sweet and bitter characteristic that just didn’t work for me.

Excellent sweet/roasted balance. Very mouthy. Finish doesn’t cling. This is generally the best 4.1 rating beer that I can get for $6.99/6 pack. An excellent choice, an excellent value.

Holy moly!! I wasn’t expecting something so thick. The mouthfeel is unreal but the chocolate is overbearing.

This one sinks rich and heavy in the mouth, loaded with carameled nuttiness. It gets heavier as you go and if you ordered a huge, spicy red dish like I did it gets to be too much, but I admire that opening feel.

Nice and dark with a great head. Too bad it doesn’t have much taste. So-so attempt at a double bock.

Sharp caramel sweetness, slightly cloying, with a bitter, bland finish. Heavy palate and syrupy sweetness undermine this beer’s potential.

The other guy was right, this does really remind me of a Scottish Ale, with its peaty-smokiness and ale-like fruitiness. Still, the dopplebock malt does come through enough for the style. As MJ says, this would be good with tomato sauce-based pizza.

The maltiness and smokiness on this make it taste more like a Scottish ale than a bock; I gave a glass of this to a friend of mine without telling him what it was, and he said it was the best, maltiest Scottish ale he had ever tasted! An anomaly in the beer world, and one of my favorites.

This is one MALTY brew! If you’ve ever tried some of the non-alcoholic malt beverages like ’Malta’ this is similar, but with a hefty 7.5% alcohol. This is a rich, sweet dopplebock style beer. Well done, but tends to get a bit cloying and syrupy as you finish the bottle. I would think it would be a bit tough to finish more than 2 or 3 of these at one sitting. Well worth a try!
