COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Birra Moretti La Rossa is a double bock beer produced using high quality 100% malted barley, giving it a rich sweet taste and an intense fragrance of roasted malt. The amber colour that characterizes the beer, comes from kind of malt used in the recipe (malt is dried, roasted barley). Another key ingredients is hops, the variety used is particularly aromatic, giving a characteristic bitter aftertaste and a delicate fragrance to the beer. The Master Brewers advise a service temperature between 10° and 12° C.

Bottle. Dark brown with red tints and a fluffy foam. Aromas are dark treacle, raisins and prunes with chocolate. Plummy and medicinal with cookie dough. Flavours are sweet molasses with prune juice and raisins. Some citrus with spritzy yeast and peppery notes. Surprisingly decent.

Poured from 11.2 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams lager glass. Appearance: Thick, creamy, long-lasting head. Rich, clear amber color with no particles apparent. Moderate to significant lacing. Each swallow stirs up a noticeable amount of carbonation/bubbles in the glass. Aroma: Sweet and malty Mouthfeel: Medium body and moderate carbonation Taste: Fairly sweet, bready, malty hints of caramel. Lingering hoppy bitterness on the back of the tongue after swallowing. Overall, pretty tasty. I’d gladly have another!

Poured from a 330 ml bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- I get a ton of malt with a dash of caramel. Not bad. Appearance- A neat looking brew, has a nice reddish tint. Pours a large white head. Taste- A real strong malt and grain flavor, it’s pretty good. Palate- This is a medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation. It has a smooth finish with a light aftertaste. Overall- A pretty fair beer, I think this would go good with pasta and the next time I am at an Italian restaurant that carries this beer I will give it another try.

Italian. This beer is too light for my palate. Smooth but no really flavor shines through.

UPDATED: FEB 6, 2015 12 oz bottle poured. No bottled date, and I have reasons to believe it?s been around a while. Pours a dark amber color. Soft bread and sweet malt aroma. Light flavor with bread and some banana. Minimum sweetness. Much better than expected. I will drink this again.

MadRobin (2227) - Silver Spring, USA - JAN 24, 2015
Poured from 330ml bottle at Da Marco Restaurante Italiano in Silver Spring, MD. Clear, dark copper/chestnut with a large khaki head and very good lacing. Aroma of caramel, toast, light fruit and very mild vanilla. Taste of toffee, mild citrus, toast, caramel and a hint of vanilla. Medium/full body and medium/low carbonization. While not outstanding, this is a pleasant malty doppelbock. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
