Clear golden lager. Medium lasting white, dense head. Lively carbonation. Malty sweet aroma and flavour. Nothing special going on, just a well balanced, uncomplex lager.

New country tick! 500ml can as Birra Peja Original but the ABV matches so I’m rating it here. I bought it at a kiosk in Thessaloniki, Greece and brought home where I poured it into a glass tankard, ABV 4.2% Nice bright golden yellow colour on the body, light activity in the glass, with a small and thin white head sitting on top. Average retention, it leaves a thin film of foam on the surface and light lacing on the glass. Sweet aroma, surprisingly fruity, okay, nothing to rock your world but better that the heavy malts I expected, not that they’re not present. Quite good taste too, sweet with malts but again some fruity notes, some grass and noble hops, with a good enough bitterness on the finish and the aftertaste. It doesn’t avoid some metallic notes though. Medium thin body, good and soft carbonation. Much better than what I expected. I was waiting just a country tick but this one is quite drinkable and for this orice beats many of the available beers on the greek market. Will keep in mind to get more if again in Thessaloniki.

Slightly rough pale lager aroma. Rougher taste. Sweetish pale malts. Papery hops. some metallic aspects. Sweetish and thin. Watery palate, a bit thin. Country tick is the best thing I can say about this.

BOTTLE 50CL as "Peja Original", 4.2% ABV. Look: clear straw, white frothy head. Aroma: clean sweetness and malt, grassy hops. Taste: light sweetness, soft low to moderate hop bitterness, clean and crisp. <P>An ok macro-lager.

You need a beer and an airport to be a country. Kosovo has needed a little more international assistance to make it happen, but... This was really pretty bad. I sat on a bench outside the National Library, and found that this beer had a terrible finish and murky flavors that veered into some really negative dimensions. Not a good national beer, but perhaps that’s Kosovo’s fate. Bottle in Pristina.

500ml can. Pours light gold with a small head. Aroma is corn. Some more corn. Then some more. Taste is watery, a little corn. A hint of straw. Horse piss.

330ml bottle @ the 5th Shrewsbury Bottle share, courtesy of myself, bought from Drinks of the World, Winterthur. Like everyone else this was bought for the Kosovo tick and not actually that bad. Pours gold with a sweetish taste.. a perfectly fine European pilsner.

BlackHaddock (3598) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 20, 2014
330ml Bottle brought to the May Shrewsbury Beer Swap by Mat. Obtained in Switzerland and badged as ’original’ not ’pilsner’: same ABV and obviously the same beer inside as the pilsner. Anyway, down to the beer. Typical lager/pilsner look, golden, clear and bright, mid to light gold in colour with a fading white covering. Almost odourless with just a mild grassy hint in the nose. The taste was semi-sweet and not unpleasant. So in a nutshell: a bog standard lager/pilsner that could have been brewed anywhere in the world, but gave me the ’Kosovo’ tick!

Idiosynkrasie (3708) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - MAY 2, 2014
330ml bottle. Clear golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Grainy and strawy aroma with a minimally soapy touch. Taste is grainy, strawy and minimally soapy, hints of corn, caryying an unpleasant bitter note.
