UPDATED: SEP 10, 2014 Bottle in Gjakova. Crystal clear yellow color, fluffy white head. Aroma of light straw, subtle white pepper. Taste is mildly bitter and plain. 6-3-5-3-8-2.6
Freshly filled bottle from the source, pulled off the bottling line by Korab just before capping, thank you sir! Consumed from the bottle, so can’t comment on appearance and limited exposure to aroma, but it seems the same. Taste is slightly more hay and straw, light lemon, cool and refreshing. 6-3-7-3-10-2.9

Tack Hamdi för ölen. I övrigt en medioker pilsner. Mycket malt i smaken, bra fyllighet för stilen.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle 0,33L. Have this one two months after date expired, but everything seems OK with it. Clear, golden colour with lively visible carbonation and average, frothy, white head. Aroma of grain, hay and grassy hops. Taste starts light bitter and grassy, finish is medium bitter. Light to medium body, dry texture, soft carbonation and finaly Kosovo tick. Typical lager/pilsner, but not that bad.

New country tick! 500ml can as Birra Peja Original but the ABV matches so I’m rating it here. I bought it at a kiosk in Thessaloniki, Greece and brought home where I poured it into a glass tankard, ABV 4.2%
Nice bright golden yellow colour on the body, light activity in the glass, with a small and thin white head sitting on top. Average retention, it leaves a thin film of foam on the surface and light lacing on the glass.
Sweet aroma, surprisingly fruity, okay, nothing to rock your world but better that the heavy malts I expected, not that they’re not present.
Quite good taste too, sweet with malts but again some fruity notes, some grass and noble hops, with a good enough bitterness on the finish and the aftertaste. It doesn’t avoid some metallic notes though.
Medium thin body, good and soft carbonation.
Much better than what I expected. I was waiting just a country tick but this one is quite drinkable and for this orice beats many of the available beers on the greek market. Will keep in mind to get more if again in Thessaloniki.

1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Slightly rough pale lager aroma. Rougher taste. Sweetish pale malts. Papery hops. some metallic aspects. Sweetish and thin. Watery palate, a bit thin. Country tick is the best thing I can say about this.

You need a beer and an airport to be a country. Kosovo has needed a little more international assistance to make it happen, but... This was really pretty bad. I sat on a bench outside the National Library, and found that this beer had a terrible finish and murky flavors that veered into some really negative dimensions. Not a good national beer, but perhaps that’s Kosovo’s fate. Bottle in Pristina.
