1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
660ml green bottle from Aldi at a giveaway price. Cow dung aroma. Grainy, fat, rubbery malt that becomes more and more difficult to drink - and the bargain basement 660ml is starting to look like a very poor deal. Perhaps I needed to chill it a bit more - though to remove this taste would require the beer to be frozen, I think. Creamy, foamy head. Lager hops. Dusty, soon vanishing. Not enjoyable.

Poor supermarket beer but drinkable, essential taste of nothing! Good for a curry mouthwash.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
660ml bottle. Pours gold with a small head. Aroma is quite grassy, but with eggy butter in there too. Taste is grassy throughout, easy to drink. Hint of egg with some minerals in the finish. A little oily. Fuck bombers of Punk!

1.7 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Same 66cl green bottle as everybody else: best before 07/2012, poured into three pilsner glasses on 26/07/2012, so just out of date.
Typical supermarket ’Med’ style lager/pilsner: looks clean, clear and bright without actually promising much.
It was hot and sticky when I opened this and it was just what I needed, it was ’fit for purpose’ to be honest, more than a good beer I could recommend.
It was cheap, it tasted cheap, but sometimes these sort of beers will do.

1.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20
66cl bottle from Aldi. Straw with a rapidly fading white head; fresh grassy aroma; sweet cereal grain flavour; and a damp cardboard finish. On a par with most southern European macro lagers.

1.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bottle from Aldi. Just like Breda Royal, it pours very pale gold, with no head. Smells like sea air - or salted malt, to be precise. Taste is initially crisp, with some gammon hints and lacquered floor central European hop references. BUT, all flavour utterly evaporates halfway through the mouth, leaving an aftertaste of zero flavour. Not brilliant. A bad lager.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bottle. Pale gold with a white head. Aromas are cereal and glue with light lemon. Trace peach with some pepper and boiled cabbage. Flavours are grain with glue and mellow lemon. Cardboard with a chemical finish. Serve very cold so you can’t taste it.
