1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Thanks to heavy’s parents if I remember correctly. Shared with him and ogivlado. Calls itself "red", but pours a light golden body with a tiny white head. But this is Albania, home of "lägers", dark pilseners and whatnot, nothing too strange there. Anyway, The nose is very light and grainy, with extremely light notes of something I can’t read from my notes. Sweetish creamy taste that somehow manages to end salty. Ordinary crappy lager that manages to be watery, which doesn’t help it at all. Meh.

0.33 l bottle my parents brought from Albania and I forgot about it. Marko didn’t luckily. It poured pale golden body with medium sized head. Slightly sour corn and barley aroma. Not really good. Flavor was also a bit sourish, also sweetish floral malty. Thinner in body with short watery finish. A crappy beer, nothing good in here.

Straw colour. No head. The aroma is a bit appley. Taste is diacetyl and acetaldehyde...now that is a winning combination.

The head is ok, it smells mild barley. The taste is a bit soft, then malty. In the aftertaste it is a bit fruity. It´s ok. The brewery makes commercials with HACCP on the label! 10/9/8/9/11/9

Bottle in Shkoder. Gold and lame head.
Aroma is sour, and the flavors are worse with terrible array of sourness from green apples to soured milk. Awful and too highly carbonated to gulp the pain away.

33cl bottle from a small shop in Sarandë, Albania. Enjoyed straight from the bottle at our balcony at Kaonia Hotel. I didn’t notice the huge difference from the regular Birra Tirana. Pretty standard lager without any offensive aromas and fairly well balanced. Mild and sweet malt with just a hint of hops. Very refreshing in the heat and far better than most Greek macro lagers we had on Corfu. (Sarandë, Albania - 2011-05-25)

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a light amber, clear, moderately effervescent. A tall frothy white head with little lacing over a clean scent, with a hint of citrus. A sweet taste, light on the tongue with minimal bitterness. Definitely a light body, with an appropriate slick texture. Moderately astringent, but that fades quickly to leave only a lingering, salty sweetness.
The aroma is simple, but hard to pinpoint. Standard cereal notes that fade out to leave a gentle toasted feel, with an overt but quiet tinge of citrus or spruce that dances across the sides of the tongue. An incredibly clean flavor, overall, and good balance from a common beer. The body is very light for my taste, but it makes for a very drinkable beer that could pair well with a wide variety of traditional local dishes, which tend to be light and savory. An excellent representation of the southern Balkan styles.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Milder Beginn, z.T. Kurz wässrig. Im Mittelteil steht die Herbe allein und wirkt ein wenig ruppig, kurz darauf trocken. Bitterer, weiter trockener Abgang. /8/7/8/9/8

.33l bottle found in a Pristina, Kosovo market. My friend translates Kuqalashe label as a special (winter seasonal? maybe 50th anniversary?) "Red" beer from Tirana. Rich, slightly bitter-hop nose, amber malting. Definitely can get some sort of ’red’ idea from this, christmasy character over lagery base. Sweet, coating mouthfeel. Sugary. Clove, cinnamon, bark. Tastes to me like a spiced-up macro lager
