bottle from Kölschtrinker - thanks! Clear golden colour, mid-sized white head. Mild malty flavours, shy hopp touch.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 flyweightnate (11) - New Hampshire, USA - MAR 18, 2012
Pours a light amber, clear, moderately effervescent. A tall frothy white head with little lacing over a clean scent, with a hint of citrus. A sweet taste, light on the tongue with minimal bitterness. Definitely a light body, with an appropriate slick texture. Moderately astringent, but that fades quickly to leave only a lingering, salty sweetness.
The aroma is simple, but hard to pinpoint. Standard cereal notes that fade out to leave a gentle toasted feel, with an overt but quiet tinge of citrus or spruce that dances across the sides of the tongue. An incredibly clean flavor, overall, and good balance from a common beer. The body is very light for my taste, but it makes for a very drinkable beer that could pair well with a wide variety of traditional local dishes, which tend to be light and savory. An excellent representation of the southern Balkan styles.

Milder Beginn, z.T. Kurz wässrig. Im Mittelteil steht die Herbe allein und wirkt ein wenig ruppig, kurz darauf trocken. Bitterer, weiter trockener Abgang. /8/7/8/9/8

.33l bottle found in a Pristina, Kosovo market. My friend translates Kuqalashe label as a special (winter seasonal? maybe 50th anniversary?) "Red" beer from Tirana. Rich, slightly bitter-hop nose, amber malting. Definitely can get some sort of ’red’ idea from this, christmasy character over lagery base. Sweet, coating mouthfeel. Sugary. Clove, cinnamon, bark. Tastes to me like a spiced-up macro lager
