Corposa e aromatica.

Bottle in Venice. Slightly hazy, head not very big with not very good retention. The nose is grainy and caramelly, very malty, toasty and even jammy. Faint alcohol I think. Raisins. Tastes sourish and malty, Id say even more appley than the Bionda. Weird. Very sweet. Dark dries fruits soaked in punch. Pretty light, with fizzy carbonation. Not bad.

Fles gedeeld met lachneger. Gekocht in Venetië, na het ten huwelijk vragen. Kleur is amber, troebel. Aroma is wat appelmoes zoet. Smaak is zoet met licht zuurtje in de afdronk. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml bottle from a liquor store in Venice. Clear sparkling darkish amber colour, huge mostly lasting rocky off-white head, fair lacing. Heavily malty aroma of toast, caramel, nuts, plum and butterscotch, light floral hops. Taste is very sweet initially, with light acidity, turning into a shortish bittersweet and slightly sour finish with a somewhat chalky feel. Light to medium body, average carbonation watery mouthfeel. Looked and smelled good but actually drinking it wasnt that pleasant.

Bottle from a Rome market, brought back to uk. Pours an initially cloudy pale copper colour with minimal white head. Aroma of malt, molasses, butterscotch, marzipan, alcohol and apple. Rather sweet, quite thin texture, soft carbonation, with a bittersweet finish.

Deep amber nearly red colour. Had a lingering fruity aftertaste which isnt unpleasant. Quite a light texture for such a strong beer (6.4%)

Bottle. A clear, dark golden beer topped by a small, dense beige head. Rather boring aroma with caramel hints and a touch of wet cardboard. Some bitterness in the flavor, with caramel and a malty hint. Pleasant carbonation, medium body. Short finish. Superbly boring. 131101

Aroma of musty caramel and toffee. Distinctively sugary nose. Bright tan-orange color, looks thick and syrupy. Very sweet taste, with bread and stones. Not like any doppel or heller I can remember. Thick body, sticky. Not a great bock, but full of surprises.

Bottle from the sandwich/pizza stand in the S. Lucia station in Venezia, Italy. Pours amber copper with a foamy beige head. Aroma is malty with a touch of ripe stone fruit. Med body with some roasty malt, a little fruit and arguably some lightly spicy hop. Fits the style, tho perhaps not so heavy as some doppelbocks. Finishes not bitter, and a bit far from dry. Tasty in its way.
