COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Birra Roma is inspired by the colors and flavors typical of Rome, the Eternal City. With its gold color, this beer has a strong malt taste, that gives it a sweet scent. With its light but persistent body, it stands out fairly and pleasantly bitter with a toasted aftertaste and a touch of smoked wood. Well matched with Italian dishes, in particular with Rome’s typical cuisine.

Editor’s note: apparently the first bottles were called simply "Birra Roma", and as of 2013 "Birra Roma Ambrata"; Ambrata and Bionda can be separated by the ABV.

Pours a muddy golden brown with a finger of off white foam that settles out quickly. Aromas of malt... with a light touch of smokey malts. On the palate its a bit brighter than I expected from the nose. Nice toasty malt flavors mingle with smoke, bready caramel and a touch of bitterness on the end.

Bottle. Cloudy light brown with tan head. Nice beer for the fall like weather. Tastes like a typical marzen/octoberfest. Sweet and not bitter. Coats the mouth and flavor lingers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The aroma is slightly earthy with leaves, toasted malt, fresh cut grass, and dry hay. The appearance is amber with a small head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is average. Overall there really isn’t’ much to say about this one other than it’s underwhelming.

12 oz bottle This was tried at a restaurant in the new National Harbor. The bottle is impressive and differnet. The birra was shared with a friend. I am not sure I could have finished the whole bottle. This was not a good experience. The birra poured a prunish color and tasted like smoked prunes. Maybe the trip from Italy impacted the product.

From bottle at the brewpub. Pours hazy orange with a small, creamy and dense head. Toasted malty, caramelish and light breadish. Mild yeasty too. Bitter and dry toasted malty flavoured.

Poured a hazy copper color. Thin white head. Some syrupy fruit flavors with cardboard in the aroma. Taste has lots of cardboard with caramel and metallic tastes. Finish has some fruit with more cardboard. It’s ok, but weird.

Bottle. Amber pour with a short, fizzy white head. Aroma is malty and sweet with fruit notes, caramel and light grassy hops. Taste is big caramel, fruit notes, sweet, chewy malt, soft bread notes and light grassy hops. Body is medium with a soft, fizzy carbonation. Ends with more sweet malt notes, toffee, caramel, candied fruit and light grassy hops.

Amber color with good light brown foam head. Aroma is fruity caramel with some traces of yeast. Taste is initial sweet but with bitter aftertaste, not lasting too long. (Rome 201205)

Bottle. Pours light brown with a medium off-white head. Sweet malty aroma with notes of hay and light citrus. Slightly sweet malt flavor with notes of hay and a surprising pine/citrus hop bitterness. Slightly bitter finish with distinct smoke notes. Interesting and tasty for the style.

Explosive opening. Pours mousse-like, settles to dark amber with an off-white head. Nose shows caramel, bready malt, nutty notes and toffee. Similar flavours, suggesting nutty chocolate cream, caramel and toffee. Very sweet.
