COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Birra Roma is inspired by the colors and flavors typical of Rome, the Eternal City. With its gold color, this beer has a strong malt taste, that gives it a sweet scent. With its light but persistent body, it stands out fairly and pleasantly bitter with a toasted aftertaste and a touch of smoked wood. Well matched with Italian dishes, in particular with Rome’s typical cuisine.

Editor’s note: apparently the first bottles were called simply "Birra Roma", and as of 2013 "Birra Roma Ambrata"; Ambrata and Bionda can be separated by the ABV.

330ml in a nice designed bottle, lotto 411, bought at Vinmonopolet Valkendorf in Bergen. Hazy, apricot coloured body. Remaining off-white head. Grassy hops in flavour alongside hints of smoked malts. Quite well blended malt-fruity taste, hints of smoke and bread. Smooth mid-sweet ending. Soft in the mouth. Medium bodied. Interesting (hotel room, 18.09.2012).

Nice looking bottle, 330 ml, at home. Poured into a tulip glass. ABV 5.5% Pours a deep red coloured beer, with lots of activity in it and a moslty clear body. Almost two fingers of off-white head, with very good retention, leaving light lacing around the glass. Aroma of toasted grains, cooked vegetables and even some hints of coffee. Taste of malts, cooked vegetables with the same notes of coffee and even some mocha, with a nice little bitterness on the aftertaste. Medium body, average carbonation, quite dry on the palate. I liked this one quite a bit, pleasantly surprised.

Bottle. Amber color, cloudy. Malt and hints of smoke and licorice in the aroma. Malty soft smoky flavor with hints of licorice. Not perfect, but likeable.

From the 11.1 fl oz bottle stamped 11-2013-426. The pour is a hazy brown color with a cream colored head that lingers. I cannot quite define the aroma. It does have malts and butter but there is also this odd sort of cooked vegetables thing going on. Medium body, oily and chewy. The taste is rather odd with its buttery and vegetable character noted in the aroma. Not one of the best Marzens I have had but reasonably drinkable.

11.2oz bottle. Pours a cloudy reddish-amber color with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet caramel apple and mild biscuit. Taste is sweet apple and pineapple, with some hay and light bready, buttery malt. A toasty malt finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation.

Today’s 2nd beer is an Oktoberfest from Italy’s Birradamare: Birra Roma Ambrata. I picked up a six-pack on sale as some labels were scuffed, lucky me! 5.5% bottle from Rakuten. Drunk from a glass beer mug. An opaque nutty honey looking brown with a thick foamy head. Quite a fruity-wine like aroma reminiscent of Belgian yeast. A nice full bodied mouthfeel with some nutty, biscuity qualities & a touch of spicy smoke. I think Japanese people would call it "goku". The online reviews had me not expecting much so I was pleasently surprised! This is pretty tasty! A really solid beer.

On tap at Terrazza in Chatswood, Australia. Sweet malty beer (caramel?) with a light head, clear golden appearance. Still a pleasant bitter edge rounding it out, very drinkable.
