On draught at Birreria
Aroma gentle, slight smoke, brown sugars, malts, some honey. Solid well composed nose. 8-
Appearance hazed brown look with lighter top. 3-
Flavor and Palate : I am guessing that frontal smoky elements come from chestnuts? Mild character, smooth ,clean. If not absent tartness this brew reminded me of smoother fuller rendering of Grodziskie. Very well brewed. Simply solid.

On cask at the brewpub. Pours with a clear chestnut brown hue with low head retention. Aromas are woody, nutty, umami, earthy and spicy with light smoke. Quite a bit of richness to this beer. Flavors are earthy, nutty, spicy, meaty, chestnuts. Plenty of umami, and light smoke. Prickly carbonation with a dry finish. Tasty!
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Beerlando (3324) - Orlando, Florida, USA - NOV 17, 2011
Cask at Birreria Eataly. The pour yields a clear, dark, chestnut brown body with a small, smooth head of beige foam. Fragile webs of lacing mark the glass so lightly, you can hardly see them. The nose is based in nutty, caramelized bread malt, hinting at pumpernickel though less intense. A softly spicy green hopping lends balance. Flavors follow suit, resembling a soft, mild, nutty brown ale, only a bit more dry and bread like. Green hops are subtle, lending more spice than bitterness. The palate is soft, relatively light, and obviously light on carbonation (but there is some). It drinks easy. Nice beer to have with food.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jefcon (1124) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - SEP 4, 2011
So it was a perfect day at Birreria, but this was also the perfect beer to enjoy there. Rich brown pour, slight fine head, lots of malty aromas and a hint of chestnut on the nose. Any questions about the small batch brewing operation 40 feet from the cask are answered on first sip. Quaffable, light, wholesome and downright professional. Emphasis is on the malts and the nutty, medium roast of the beer, but like a dark lager Wanda provides all those delicate, dark flavors without wearing out the palate. Like a milk stout, finishes full and slightly sweet. German chocolate, chestnuts, lavender, spring water, brown bread and sweet cream.

Cask. Deep amber brown with a tight head. The aroma is softly fruity with a little bit of toasted grain character. A little bit of earthy hoppiness and a soft palate. Light bitterness and a bit of soft fruitiness. Tasty but a bit simple.
