Draught at Orzobruno, Pisa. Clear golden with a medium white head. Honeyish malt and very yeastie (doughy). Light fruit and spicy accents. Actually it’s clean and the alcohol doesn’t nearly show through unlike the Montemagno. Fruity finish. Nice one.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 DruncanVeasey (5145) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - AUG 8, 2009
Plastic cup of takeout on the kerb opposite Orzo Bruno, Pisa. Bright and golden with a creamy diminishing collar. Sweet lemon barley and sherbet aroma; some cherry lolly, malt whiskey, banana and raw booze lurking under the head. Discreet peppery coriander, wheat citrus, Poperinge-type orange tang, juniper, oak, grenadine. Tires with alcohol, but fresh, tanging and convincingly Belgian.

My Bottom Line:
Honeyed cereals, fruity yeast and noble hop bitterness conjure up a flavorful but not entirely compelling hybrid of a strong ale.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the cloudy golden.
-These guys don’t brew to style, so don’t refer to the style outlined on this page above.
-The German hops provide throughout, but mostly stand out with their drying bitterness.
-Some alcohol heat is felt.
-The soft carbonation and round body offer an apt but maybe lazy mouthfeel.
On tap at Orzobruno, Pisa.
