COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
(Ale For Obsessed)
This top fermented beer is a free interpretation of a Pale Ale. It is deep copper in color, generously hopped (it contains more than ten different types of hops including the American Chinook, Cascade and Simcoe delivering its citrusy and exotic aromas) with a lightly toasted caramel flavor that perfectly balances its bitter finish.
A beer I have always craved. To all those obsessed by Ales like me.

A.F.O. is my second creation. It was launched on the market together with VIA EMILIA at the end of March 2007. The story behind this beer dates back to January 2006 when, for the first time, I came across the new and irresistible character of American hops. Despite the initial excitement, I soon realized that my dream pale ale aimed to express something different. Thus, I challenged myself to create a complex bouquet that would end up being unusual and enticing. The investigation in the field of hop aromas (which may never end) lead me to England and Germany. I also experimented with hop varieties from New Zealand. Despite this, A.F.O.’s unmistakable character will never change.

On tap at local taphouse. Pours an orange copper with a fluffy white head. Aromas of apricot, peach and citrus. Malt driven with fruity notes at the back end. Different to any other APA that I’ve had. I like this a lot.

Pours an orange copper with white froth. Flavour is sweet but mellow on bittering hops. The aroma is damp and hoppy

bottiglia 33 cl. Colore ambrato carico, con schiuma beige chiaro fine e persistente. naso intenso dominato dagli agrumi del Cascade e con un leggero sentore di tostato. Secca, watery, chiude corta e piuttosto amara....

33cl Bottle at La Dolce Vita, Dublin. Pours copper colour with fairly thick white head - plenty of lacing. Aroma is pine resin, wood, earthiness, spice, slight citrus, grapefruit. Taste is big on the pine resin and earthy notes, grapefruit bitterness is there too, fairly robust caramel malt profile is prominent too. Mouthfeel is a bit rough, as is the bitter bite (sticks around long into the aftertaste). A good, hoppy, USA-inspired ale; plenty of positives here but Christ almighty it's expensive for what it is. A good couple of quid more expensive than other (better) beers in a similar style, so would certainly drink again as long as it's not my round!

Dark amber, copper pour with a frothy off white head and lace. Flecks of yeast floating around the glass. Aroma: Citrus, grapefruit and brown sugar are the dominant aromas. Hops, malt and a woody aroma is present but subdued. Smooth with medium carbonation leaving a tingle on your tongue. AFO is a lot more prevelant on the nose than palate. Initially slightly bitter, turns to sweet. Gets more hoppy as it warms. AFO is a great session beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Ottima.

Really delicious hoppy brew. Pours out a light amber with golden hues and a finger of foamy off white head. Sweet and fruity hop forward nose. Light grainy malt notes and citrus zest. Sweet flavor with a hint of grapefruit and lemon rind. Great hop character and flavor with medium bitterness. Overall, a well balanced beer.

Bottle enjoyed at lunch in Desanzano, Italy. Deep golden orange color. Slightly cloudy. Massive head. The nose is mango, grapefruit. Some sugar. The taste is salty sweet strawberry. Malty. Yeasty, slightly cheesy notes. This beer is somewhat rustic and warming. Light bitter hop presence on the finish. Medium body active carbonation. Overall, quite tasty. A bit heavy for an APA, but quite flavorful.
