Draft at Blue monk. Hazy dark orange pour with a white thin head. Nose is tart and peaty. Taste is a tart fruit skin front into a smokey peat finish. Great balance and not overwhelming.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A bizarre concept for a beer. I was skeptical... it could have easily been a trainwreck, but it was actually great. There is a fairly subtle smoke flavor and aroma from the peated malt and the scotch barrels. In the forefront is there is mainly sour and funk flavors. All 3 beers have strong flavors, and they combine very well without drowning each other out. Hard to believe this isn’t Belgian. A very impressive and innovative beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
10oz pour at Of Love and Regret. Pours a hazy orange with some very active, frothy white head. Nose is huge, its a wild blend of rubbery peat smoke, bright pithy grapefruit, some past due yogurt, straw. Flavors follow suit, cold smoked whitefish, industrial rubber, very tart grapefruit, a little sweat sock, wheat chaff, some bread crust. Tart, industrial finish. A really wild mix of flavors.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
09/01/2014 Ma che siewte venuti a fŕ (tap). Arancia, torbida, schiuma leggera e poco persistente.

Bottle. Pours hazy amber with a small white head. Nice aroma of brett, peat and light fruit. Flavor begins with nice clean brett sourness and finishes with a great peat smokiness. Smooth, tart finish. Delicious beer.

Draft @ Redlight. Pours cloudy burnt orange color with off white head. This beer has all kinds of thing going on. Aromas of whiskey, brett, smoke and some lemon. Tart and smokey flavor with whiskey and maltiness. Medium body with average carbonation. Weird combination of flavors that came together nicely in this interesting beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Stumbling Monk. Snifter. Nicely chilled. Cloudy burnt sienna, stable tight cap. Wisps of cedar smoke mingled with brett and bandaid make for a fun, and for me, inviting aroma. The palate is delightfully clean and tart at the front, and shifts slowly to a firm smoky, ashy finish that lingers just long enough. Lovely carbonation. A mellow malty middle adds body and sweetness for balance. I half expected a fail but the smokey tart profile works for groziskie so why shouldn’t it work? What’s most remarkable is that the different beers in the blend seem to stand apart, occupying seperate quarters (or thirds as the case may be) and somehow that is what makes it charming. It’s like a beer that multitasks. Really a fun drink.
