3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Vintage 2008. Comes is a 750ml bottle shaped like a champagne bottle with a very narrow neck. Pours a very cloudy (Like Mississippi mud water) brownish orange. Almost looks like unfiltered apple cider with a big tan head. Good retention. Smells like a lot of spice, the star anise is very upfront, brett, with a little citrus and some earthy notes. Taste very sweet, and little tang, and heavy dull spices. After taste is a little orange cola like, with some spice. This is sweet, too sweet for me. The spices seem pretty straightforward and dull. I am not a big fan of this, but I will finish the bottle with my friend’s help.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
RBAG 2012. Cloudy orange ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Good retention. The anise really asserts itself in the otherwise fruity, woodsy and tangy aroma. Medium to full-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Moderately sweet and moderately acidic with low bitterness. Fruity, vinous and woodsy with a hint of spice. Finishes moderately tangy and lightly sweet.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours murky brown with a half inch off white head. Nose is all spices, licorice and raisins. Reminds me of a cinnamon roll. Taste is sweet, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger and cloves followed by a resinous finish. Mouthfeel is crisp and clean however it doesn’t last long on the palate. This is a very spicy Christmas beer and very interesting.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This was a surprising beer overall, I was expecting a straight-forward Belgian Ale but what I got was a funky, brett, sour ale of sorts. Krampus pours our a murky, muddy brown with an orange highlight body. A finger of nice beige head and some soft carbonation dies out quickly. The head dies to absolutely nothing just as quickly. The nose has a prominent lambic style sourness up front with a funky kriek note. A light wheaty malt is mostly overpowered by the acetic, vinegarry sourness. A moderate presence of alcohol on the nose. Krampus is sweet in the middle with lovely sweet fruits. A hint of wheat and bready malts with a nice acetic taste and great sourness. A hint of alcohol on the finish and a prolonged sour aftertaste akin to a beer like Duchesse du Bourgogne. This beer tastes great despite my confusion. Krampus is miedium bodied with a creamy, sublimely smooth mouthfeel. This is great beer for those who love sour or wild ales.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml capped bottle listed at 9%ABV pours an amber orangeish color with about 2 fingers of white head and some thin lacing. Aroma is lightly sour and fruity with a little spice. Taste is fruity sweet with a bit of spice and a light hoppy bitterness with a slightly sour finish. Seems to be saison like with a unique blend of flavors. Quite tasty.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Healthy Spirits. Pours amber with a thick off-white head and a fruity bready aroma. There is a slightly sour fruity flavor that is a bit watery, with a soapy finish, perhaps from the anise.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A: The pour is a cloudy orange/amber color with a massive off-white head.
S: A really funky nose to this beer, which I wasn’t expecting. I get a lot of the spice notes, particularly the anise that was used to flavor this beer. A lot of random fruit notes and some bready malt character.
T: Seems to have a sort of sweet and sour thing going on here. In fact, I get a bit of a Sweet Tart flavor (maybe Smarties, too). More miscellaneous fruits, but I do get peaches in particular. Quite a bit of spice flavor here, too. The malt seems sort of drowned out by all the different things going on.
M: The body is medium with a fairly high level of carbonation.
D: This was a strange beer. I didn’t dislike it, but I don’t think I would really want to drink a whole lot of this, either.
