COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

A murky brown colored pour with some ruby highlights. One glass had a large head, one had a medium sized head that quickly fell. Notes of raisins, malt, cream, and a slight acetic nose. Taste is sweet malt, some dark fruit, slight hops, and some bread. A slight alcohol heat is present, but not overpowering. A nice winter warmer. Good.

750ml bottle. 8/13/14. Pours almost translucent amber with a fluffy, very active cream colored head. Aroma is sour, spicy, plums, toffee, biscuit, dark fruits, perhaps a hint of bile. Taste is spicy (something strange? cumin? is this the star anise?), earthy, sour fruits, treacle, brown sugar, cloves, raisins, plums, warming; finish is dark fruits and spice. Nice lacing throughout. Medium-low carbonation. Mouth feel is full, oily; not coating. Not bad, but not great. If you’re looking for a Krampus-inspired beer, there are a few others to grab before this one.

Dobre piwo, smaczne tresciwe podobne do mocnych belgijskich ale. Fajna butelka ciezkawa z zwezana szyjka. Piwo ma krewowa bezowa piane sredniej wielkosci. Kolor brazowo bursztynowy. Mocno metne, ciezko bylo wymieszac resztki z dna butelki. W smaku trufle sliwka nieco rumu i daktyli. Lekko cierpkie, wytrawna koncowka. Tresciwe i zlozone polecam to spore piwo o zawartosci alk 9%

Bottle, shared at the lake with Parksy, May long weekend. Very hazy golden amber. Spicy, malty, and lightly sour. I’m not certain whether is is meant to be soured or whether it is infected, but intentional or not, the sourness lends a lovely character. Nice balance. More enjoyable than anticipated.

750ml bottle at Maxs. 2008, consumed in 2012...uh oh. Unfiltered orange-tan, big gushing head. Lively and effervescent. Spiced Italian action, kind of intense. Odd aroma, acetone spice amber malt. Sort of like a Belgian Xmas beer stripped of malt depth. Grows on you, quite unique. Spiced amber. Assumably past it’s prime, but still bubbly and drinkable.

Small to medium yellow-beige head, irregular, over fully hazy red-amber beer. Sourish-fruity nose with acetic acid, lactic acid, yoghurt and wey. Some sweet herbs. Dry, woody flavour. Fine acidity but less than the nose suggested. Gets wry-spicy retronasal. Again some (red) fruity esters, yeasty. Rye-like flavour. Warming up, getting even more spicy. Quite spritzy; acidity gives more MF than flavour. Medium bodied at best. Nose made me weary, but flavour is quite OK. It’s not something I’d choose to drink in 75cl, however.

[ASPETTO] color rubino scuro, limpida.

Bottle. Poured hazy amber color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate complex yeast and licorice aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium dark licorice flavor with a medium spice sweet finish of moderated duration. Interesting beer.

Cask at GBBF. Hazy amber beer. Frothy white head. Dry crisp palate. Made wuth star anise. Tart and a little fruity with the licorice spice the anise provides. Finishes crisp and fruity.
