Bottle @ home, cuvée 2011. Pours dull and opaque red/light brown with no head whatsoever. Nose is warm and sweet with a fantastic blend of vinous cherries, oak, vinegar, raisins, earth. Vanilla, apple, lemon and caramel notes. Medium bodied with low soft carbonation. Taste has some caramel sweetness initially but quickly turns really sour. Sour cherries, smooth vinegar, red apples, vinous raisins, barnyard. Lots of oak and vanilla, and some lemon peel in the aftertaste. Finishes tart and sour with clean cherry notes coming back at intense levels. I had no expectations on this one, i’m overwhelmed.

330ml 2011 years vintage brown bottle, with very nice looking artwork, poured into a Rodenbach branded Tulip glass. Appearance is opaque Russet colored with some sediment, pours with no head, just a few bubbles that quickly dissipated. Aroma of overripe apples, cherries, balsamic vinegar and oak wood. Flavours of green apples, table grapes, balsamic vinegar, cherries, dried fruits, plums, spices and oak wood. Taste is light sweet, light bitter and heavy sour. Palate is medium bodied, slightly oily texture and soft carbonation. Overall a first-class beer, very sour and with complex and vinous flavours.

UPDATED: APR 1, 2014 2011 Vintage, Bottle #0609
Tasted on 3/31/14 from a capped 375mL bottle purchased at Bruisin’ Ales, this was not a cheap one. Pours a bright, almost cranberry juice colored amber, letting just a tinge of light through, with a thin tan head that slowly recedes to very thin lace before completely disappearing. The nose is a very matured sour red wine vinegar with plenty of vanilla and cinnamon oak, vinous fruity sour cherry, there is some caramel malt to this, super complex with a touch of dried fruit oxidation (this really does remind me of an Amarone). The flavor is a bit sweeter, focused on the ripe cherry, caramel malt, dried fruit, vanilla and cinnamon oak, with the red wine vinegar, and some lemon citrus sour notes providing the mid-palate and then the sweeter dried Amarone notes returning on the back of the palate. The body is nearly full with lightly faint carbonation, a lot of oaky tannin, and a long complex finish that hits all of the nutty oxidation, sour, and sweet notes from the nose and the palate.

Alla spina. Aroma di ciliegie sotto spirito, leggero legno, frutta secca, liquorosa. Al palato ritrovo le stesse sensazione, pulisce ottimamente la bocca. Deliziosa

Pour out of 375 mL bottle, very dark reddish hazy pour with thin to no head, aroma brought notes of black cherry, dark fruit, oak, earth, vanilla, hints of nice lemony, lactic notes as well, pretty nice. Taste is a mix of sour cherry, some odd earthy funky notes into a bit of vanilla, lemon, oak, finishing slightly sweet, slightly tart.

Bottle. Hazy red body with orange hue, white lacings. Sweet cherry aroma with caramel, apples, raisins and alcohol. Taste of tart cherries, light sour, red wine, sweet caramel malt, pretty thick body, ending with a pleasing acidic cherry and honey taste. Quite nice beer.

Pours a deep ruby red with a finger of pink fizzy foam. The nose is layers of cherry, deep tart with some spice and funk. The palate follows the nose with huge spicy cherry pie notes that are round and earthy yet sweet and tart as well with some nice lingering acidity and hints of vanilla, cinnamon and musty basement funk. Delicious !
