UPDATED: APR 1, 2014 2011 Vintage, Bottle #0609
Tasted on 3/31/14 from a capped 375mL bottle purchased at Bruisin’ Ales, this was not a cheap one. Pours a bright, almost cranberry juice colored amber, letting just a tinge of light through, with a thin tan head that slowly recedes to very thin lace before completely disappearing. The nose is a very matured sour red wine vinegar with plenty of vanilla and cinnamon oak, vinous fruity sour cherry, there is some caramel malt to this, super complex with a touch of dried fruit oxidation (this really does remind me of an Amarone). The flavor is a bit sweeter, focused on the ripe cherry, caramel malt, dried fruit, vanilla and cinnamon oak, with the red wine vinegar, and some lemon citrus sour notes providing the mid-palate and then the sweeter dried Amarone notes returning on the back of the palate. The body is nearly full with lightly faint carbonation, a lot of oaky tannin, and a long complex finish that hits all of the nutty oxidation, sour, and sweet notes from the nose and the palate.

Man känner rödvins toner. Känner en sötma innan den sura smaken kommer på slutet. Känns nästan som fizzy pops. Ska definitivt köpa nån till och lagra i fler år. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Murky copper/amber, faint head. Acetic oaky cherry aroma. Acetic with underlying malt sweetness. Full bodied with soft mouthfeel. Oak, cherries, honey, vinegar and white pepper. Warming acetic finish. Intense and concentrated, multi layered and quite delicious.

@Basunen: riktigt trevlig doft av syrliga körsbär. Smaken är likadan. Mycket trevlig frukt och god syrlighet. Fin balans. Gott gott. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone ---- Soberness not garanteed!

Sour ale indeed. The taste of cherries and wine aging is nice, but the sourness destroys anything in its way, too much and unbalanced.
