4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: APR 1, 2014 2011 Vintage, Bottle #0609
Tasted on 3/31/14 from a capped 375mL bottle purchased at Bruisin’ Ales, this was not a cheap one. Pours a bright, almost cranberry juice colored amber, letting just a tinge of light through, with a thin tan head that slowly recedes to very thin lace before completely disappearing. The nose is a very matured sour red wine vinegar with plenty of vanilla and cinnamon oak, vinous fruity sour cherry, there is some caramel malt to this, super complex with a touch of dried fruit oxidation (this really does remind me of an Amarone). The flavor is a bit sweeter, focused on the ripe cherry, caramel malt, dried fruit, vanilla and cinnamon oak, with the red wine vinegar, and some lemon citrus sour notes providing the mid-palate and then the sweeter dried Amarone notes returning on the back of the palate. The body is nearly full with lightly faint carbonation, a lot of oaky tannin, and a long complex finish that hits all of the nutty oxidation, sour, and sweet notes from the nose and the palate.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
From bottle at CBF Wien.
Brownish-amber, hazy body, with almost no head.
Aroma of sour cherries, barrel, overripe fruits, vinegar, some sour berries, some red apples.
Taste follows this, with more barrel notes and some leather.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes sour, wooden, leathery, fruity.
Very nice. Lovely sour fruits, combined with barrel notes. Well hidden alcohol. Not among my favourite sour ales, but really enjoyable nonetheless.

Bottle, cuvee 2012. Pours murky red with small whitish head. Strong aroma of cherries with distinct Brettanomyces notes. Moderately sweet with well marked acidity at the same time. Lots of tannins in the aftertaste. Lively carbonated. Quite complex beer, maybe a bit to sweet but still very interesting.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Draught. Ruby in colour, no head. Cherries and red berries in front on low level, then very sour, acidic with lots of vinegar, very harsh. Light sweetness on start. If you like vinegar it is beer for you, if not there are better sour beers on the market.
