COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Barley Wine aged 18 months in French oak wine barrels previously used for Amarone della Valpolicella wine.

(Rating #3592)

11.2oz bottle picked up at WLV, drank from my Darkness glass...Cap pops without a hiss at all, not a good sign of things to come...Predictably it pours with no head, a dark brown almost purple color with red hints...The aroma all white wine, you can tell right away it was aged for 9 months in the wine barrels. Vinegar and lactic notes become prevalent as it warms. Its not bad, just not at all what is expected or what any barleywine I’ve had tastes like...The taste in all honesty, is just a mess. Its very similar to the nose, but now just doesn’t work. White wine mixed with vinegar is not appetizing. Those two flavors are distinct throughout, just terrible. Skip this beer for sure, especially at the $17ish price tag.

Sampled at ACBF 2011. Deepamber colour. Sherry and wood aroma. Too much wood maybe. Yep like licking a barrel. Some tangerine fruit. Wood and crystallised tangerine fruit dominate. Tobacco too on the wood notes.

@ACBF 2011. I’m not usually a fan of barley wine, but this one aged in red wine barrels really adds nice overtones of wood and wine. Very nice.

Bottled. An unclear red-brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of wood, brettanomyces, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet and a bit acidic with notes of caramel, alcohol, wood, brettanomyces, and malt, leading to a dry and slightly tart finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a cloudy opaque dark brown with no head - completely flat. Amazing aroma of Brett, wood and indeed wine. Solid body, caramel, wood, tart cherries and again quite some Brett and funk. A little warming alcohol in the finish. Both delicate and extremely delicious. 230311
