A special one time creation that truly lives up to its name. The base is a Stout brewed with hot chili peppers that has been aged for almost 2 yeasr with blueberries & pediococcus. It is opaque black in color in with just a touch of carbonation. Quite acidic & tart along with very intense flavors and aromas. This nightmare is sure to leave a lasting memory.

My Bottom Line:
Balsamic vinegar takes the reigns here, with dark chocolate, blueberries and roastiness in tow, leading to an eye-stinging sourness.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the blackness.
-Drinkability is obviously very low, but this is still a compelling brew.
-Pediococcus is lost within the acetobacteria. Which is fine by me.
-The mouthfeel remains smooth, not intensely dry.
-Alcohol is not felt at all.
-This would have benefited from some blending, methinks…

On tap at Lortica, Bologna.

(750ml bottle) Pours a dark brown body with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chili peppers, blueberries, and pedio. Flavor of blueberries, vinous, oil, chilies, pedio, dried cherries, and cocoa.

Holy Mother of God! Who pissed off the brewer of this beer? The smell was enough to warn you off this vile concoction of Hell Water. But the flavor! The flavor! I cannot use strong enough language to describe the vile, horror, nightmarishness that is the flavor of this demon jizz. Lord have mercy on the souls of the men and women brave enough to face this Nightmare!

A- black, no light passes through. Two finger head leaves lots of lacing. S- boozy, blueberry, caramel, rum T- balsamic vinegar, deep sourness, lots of blueberry. M- thick, sticky, fairly disgusting with very little carbonation D- not my style of beer at all. Any more than a few sips and I would not have been happy

Wow. One of the most intense and distinctive beers I’ve had in a while. It is as advertised. Blueberry certainly comes through. Deeply sour. A little of the hot pepper comes through, mostly in my throat. This liquid in my glass is quite similar to balsamic vinegar. I’m the kind of guy who likes to sip balsamic vinegars, so I’m happy to slowly drink this beer. But it’s definitely an academic beer-drinking experience rather than an enjoyable one.

Bottle (Batch #2). Intensely tart with lots of blueberry coming through. The chilies are faint in the background - very little if anything from the whisky barrels.

On tap at Avenue. Pours a cloudy dark brown with beige head that lasts. The aroma is tart fruit funk. Syrupy thick mouthfeel with light tartness and oak, easy to drink, good.

Sample from tap @ Beer Temple with Benzai & Lothore. Color is as good as black, with no head to speak of. Aroma’s: vinegar (balsamic), vary acidic, sharp in the nose, light berries, cleaning stuff, but still a light/vague malty sweetness. Flavor is very sour, acidic, but again with a light sweetness in the background, some fruit berries. The acidity and alcohol feel sharp in the throat. The flavor wasn’t as bad as I expected from the aroma.

Bottle number 494 of 4000. Pours an opaque purplish black with just a thing ring of bubbly head that leaves no lace. Aroma is heavy on the acetone and vinegar up front, very faint hints of chocolate and fruit. Taste is no bueno, this went wrong in the barrel, the sour went to nail polish remover. I hate to want to do this because it wasn’t cheap, but this may be a drain pour.
