3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle - 750mL crowned. Near lifeless black pour with spotty tan foam on the surface. Strong sour fruit, funky yeast, balsamic vinegar, wine notes, grape skins and wet wood make up the aroma. Taste is SOUR! My god this is sour! Unripe, tart berries, pure lemon juice, unripe fruit, funky yeast, wet wood, grape skins, sour wine, soft spiciness and heat from the chili peppers and more balsamic vinegar. Body is medium with near zero carbonation and a strong acidic feel. Bone dry during the finish and strong lingering sourness on the palate. Ends with more tart berries, soft heat and spices, extreme funk, wet wood, grape skins, sour fruit, lemon juice, earthy notes and wine.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
On tap at Santa Cruz Mountain Brewery on the guest tap. This beer would be right at home in an artisanal vinegar tasting. Literally tastes exactly like fruit infused balsamic vinegar. Massively acetic, face-flushing sourness along with unripe berries. This would be nice on salad but it’s just too much to handle in a glass.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
On draught at Roscoe’s Stout Summit 2/23/13. Incredible funk in the aroma. Blueberry and yeasty lambic notes. Almost too harsh of a sour finish, but still good.

4.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
This is one awesome sour. Very very sour but in an awesome way. Looks just like an imperial stout but doesn’t taste like one in the least. The whiskey from the aging in not overpowering and the blueberries are not sweet but give the beer a surprising tartness. You have to get this one if you can.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Amazingly fragrant Flanders red/blueberry nose. Pleasant until the finish. A little too vinegary that it gets in the nose.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Eulogy. Opaque pour with a foam tan head. Watery vinous black sour. Feeling a high ABV off the top though the finish is smooth. Unusual combative flavors. Balsamic vinegar. Blueberries. Chipolte. Coca-cola. Cold coffee. Raisins. Dark, ashy, smoky, spicy, fruity, juicy and above all quite sour. Pungent. Body seems too light. Not particularly feeling that these flavors are playing well together. Interesting to have once as an experiment, but once is enough.
