Draft at blue monk, buffalo. Black pour with purple hues, minor roast in the aroma, lots of acidic blueberries, very light chocolate. Flavor is highly acidic upfront, blueberry, bile, tart, some chocolate roast lost in there. Unique

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy/fizzy, dark brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (dark chocolate), with notes of blueberry syrup, licorice, chipotle pepper, charred oak, lemon juice, sour apple, leather, black cherry, manure. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, moderately to heavily acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately to heavily acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, watery texture, lively carbonation, moderately to heavily alcoholic, moderately burning (chiles), lightly to moderately astringent.
Wow, so...blueberry, pedio, chile peppers, and two years of aging...sounds like the opposite of good on paper. But...itís actually pretty nice. The aroma is remarkably complex and enticing, and thankfully the pepper aroma is not the typical green-vegetal type but instead offers a nice punch of smokiness, as if they used chipotles or some other smoked pepper. Blueberry is obvious (and delectable) but not at all overdone; lots of other fun aromas shine through. And lastly, thereís no icky oxidation odors...as usual, acidity is the key to that. Quite nearly a 9 for aroma, honestly (give íer time in the glass, friend-o). The pepper burn isnít exactly desirable (esp. combined with the substantial alcohol) and the mouthfeel is just ok (typical for sour ales), but itís overall a lot better than I feared it might be. Way too expensive, so wonít be buying any more, but happily surprised that it wasnít a drain pour, and instead threatening to be near 4+ territory.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Big bonus points to this beer for working all the elements successfully. Tap, pours black, slightly purple tan head. Nose is crazy: chocolate, smoke, sharp yogurty acidity, blueberry, oak. Slick, but lively mouthfeel. Very sour upfront, stout elements settle in on the aftertaste. Slight lingering heat. Weird and cool.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Looks exactly like red wine. Aroma is, well, some blueberries with a very acidic vinegar. Taste starts with a light blueberry touch and explodes into a weird combination of charcoal smoke and red wine vinegar. Hysterically tart.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Keg at the bottle shop Bermondsey, London. It pours a clean deep purple / brown color with no head. Aroma is sharply acidic and lightly fruity with notes of blueberries, lactic acid and vinegar. Taste is more rounded and complex with notes of blueberries, lactic acid, nail polish remover, ashes, burnt wood. Crazy acidic with a long lingering smokey finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, weird

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Whatís Brewing 2015, day 2. Black body with no head. Aroma is acidic with bbq smoke and licorice. Taste of lightly sour berries, smoke, oak and a mild sweetness. Sticky fruit and vinegar finish. A very strange one, I like the bbq smoke elements, not sure if the blueberries work as intended.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap @ Kick. Dark brown body with almost no head. Aroma has malt and some berries, not particular blueberry but some kind of acidic berries in combination with vinegar. Rather intense, but nice and promising aroma. The flavor unfortunately does not live up to the expectations from aroma, itís simply too one-dimensional vinegar. Really acidic with a hint of chocolate malt. Iím not able to detect any berries at all with the exception from the last part of the aftertaste. It has some qualities for sure and a delicious aroma, but ends up to raw and acidic for my tast.
