On tap at Monks. Pours near black with a creamy caramel brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of tart blueberry and dark grains/roasted malts. Flavor has a good amount of sour and acidic blueberry with a hint of roasted malts.

Love sour beers and this fit the bill. Almost like balsamic vinegar in terms of tartness. Little chili heat at the end. Wouldn’t call it a stout but a very cool weird beer.

Wow, this is a mess. Aroma isn’t terrible; mostly sour grapes / wine. Taste is full of vinegar / sour. Finishes with some heat and burning.

0.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20
This beer was just like the name suggests, a nightmare. Brought to a tasting and all 8 of us agreed. Appearance wasn’t bad with a brown, red, purple thing going on and tiny tan head. Aroma was pure vinegar with hints of blueberry present. Flavor was vinegar, acid, and some sweetness and blueberry. Body was full and texture was thin for what the bottle says is a stout with peppers and blueberry. Soft carbonation and bitter, acidic, sour finish. Quite simply the worst beer I’ve ever drank. I felt like I was sipping on a bottle of balsamic.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Medium body, intense flavor, thin texture.
As acidic as a strong vinegar, some sweet in background.
Complex flavor, balsamic with lemon.
Interesting, not pleasant unless used to season your salad.

I felt that I had to rate this beer because I feel it is unjustly rated very low for some unknown reason. Batch #3. It is one of the most sour and acetic vinegary beers that I’ve ever had. Funky roasty chocolate meets blueberry vinegar syrup. Like a really intense Kombucha. Holy heck sour. But all the flavors still show. I don’t get any spice, but whatever happened... it works. If Cantillon had put their label on this, this is an instant top 100.

Wasn’t sure what i was gonna get with this, but wasn’t expecting this. Strong vinegar and blueberry present in aroma and taste. A small warming feeling at the end. Dry finish. Lingering chili heat. Nothing here makes me think stout. Not good.

April 15, 2015. On tap at The Bishop’s Arms Folkungagatan.
Black with a small off-white head. Aroma is vinegar, thinner, faint notes of chocolate and dark berries. Taste is acidic, vinegar slight berries. Finish is very acidic, like pure vinegar but harsher...
At least they got the name right...

1.5 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Acidic and burnt aroma, vinegar-y taste. So Acidic that my jaw clenched, I felt like a baby tasting lemon for the first time. Behind all the acid was something fruity, but it didn’t matter.

Keg at Bishops Arms Folkungagatan, Stockholm. Black, small coarse head. Vinegary nose. Very acidic with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Sour vinegar meets blueberries and chili. What a total trainwreck!!! Weirdest beer alive?

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Blind taste (this was quite the experience blind). Notes: black with no head, just some bubbles on top. Aroma is red wine like, licorice, and whiskey barrel. Also something in the aroma is burning my nostrils (turns out that was the chills). Taste- very very tart, lips burn a bit. The finish is like a sweet and sour desert wine with some slight burning of chili. This beer starts out as sour as can be and fades to a vineaus spicy sweet finish. Very interesting and enjoyable.
