Svesse (1499), Hässelby, Sweden May 8, 2008 (Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm, 6 May 2008) Orange colour with dense, lasting, white head. Slightly cloudy. Fruity, yeasty nose with orange peel, Seville orange and a spicy hint of pepper mint. Fruity, slightly yeasty taste with notes of citrus peel, grass, spices and herbs. Dry, perfectly harsh, with a nice, dry bitterness in the finish. Brilliant saison, almost reaching Dupont levels of complexity.
DragonStout (1141), Orlando, Florida, USA Jul 18, 2008 Poursa cloudy orange solor with a small white head.Avery interesting saison.Lots of aroma here.Flowers, bread, citrus, pepper, and herbsFlavor was light sour fruits with some yeast, pepper, herbs and spice. This was quite complex, but done well where not one thing dominated.Finishes off slightly dry. Oakes (6793), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jul 1, 2008 Hazy dirty blonde colour. Complex herbal/spicy aroma with flowers, green peppercorn, maybe some thyme or lemongrass - there’s a lot of subtle stuff. Very bright herbal taste - lots of herbal bitter dryness, subtle florals, assertive yeast, clove, leaf herbs...crazy complexity, lots of fun. Liquorice accents. Fun stuff. LilBeerDoctor (300), East Setauket, New York, USA Jun 22, 2008 Rating #200!! On tap at the Ginger Man. Pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma of sour fruits, wheat. Flavor of sourness, oak, tartness. Slow sipper with a heavy mouthfeel. Pretty good saison, nothing incredibly remarkable about it though. fredandboboflo (306), East Setauket, New York, USA Jun 22, 2008 On tap at Ginger Man. Aroma of sourness and wheat, simple but powerful, with some spices and champagne-like fruitiness in the background. No surprises in the mouth, the various notes didn’t grow into anything mind-blowing, but still quite tasty. Very nice. JoeMcPhee (3643), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jun 15, 2008 Tap at Ginger Man. Hazy golden amber with a lovely pillowy thick white head. Aroma is lovely. Rich spicy yeastiness, some clove, lots of white pepper and allspice along with a light sprucey fruitiness. Flavour is a bit unusual initially. Herbal flavour with a vaguely bark-like astringency. As it warms some light floral aromas and lighter spiciness comes out. Very wheaty tasting as well. Soft and crackery dry malts with a lovely combination of floral/fruity aromas. Quite a nice saison.
