3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 doublebock (455) - California, USA - OCT 26, 2012
Golden translucent color with white lace. Heavy hefe aroma with some coriander and a slight pepper kick. Was hoping to taste some more of these fine and unique ingredients but unfortunately this is more reminescent of a regular and yeasty hefeweizen with a peppery tinge and a bit of ginger on the finish.
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 daniel0017 (329) - Yukon, CANADA - OCT 24, 2012
opaque golden amber with carbonation. Sediment at the bottom. Decent amount of white bubbly head which laces the glass. Floral esters, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, vanilla, pumpkin to the nose. Flavor is reflection of scents with some sweetness very well offset by the hops. Full-bodied, clean with average carbonation. Long finish, smooth and well balanced.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 HeistAlmighty (850) - Saint John, New Brunswick, CANADA - OCT 24, 2012
330mL bottle. Orange amber colour, big white head with large bubble. Unfiltered with lots of carbonation. Aroma is apricots and apple pie spices. Sweet taste with some cinnamon and allspice. A touch of earthy hops and dusty yeast in the back. Rather complex taste. Quite dry in the mouth. Overall, it kind of reminded me of a pumpkin ale if they didn’t add the pumpkin.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 hawthorne00 (1890) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - OCT 18, 2012
Bottle, 10C.Just hazy gold with a large white head. Aroma of light dough, orange and lemon, heaps of flowers, mild spices. Sweet and (overly) floral - with gentle spices and bitterness. Very dry finish leaves a mouthful of potpourri. Lovely mouthfeel is quite smooth despite highish carbonation. Far too much of the camomile for me, but there’s a lot that’s really winning about this.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 yrstruly (197) - Guelph, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 12, 2012
Pours hazy gold with a dissipating, foamy head. The aroma is all over the place - flowers, barnyard, banana and clove, spicy yeast. The taste is medium-sweet and spicy with cinnamon and alcohol. This fades to a pleasant and mild, floral hop bitterness. Not balanced but definitely interesting.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 3fourths (7064) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - OCT 12, 2012
bottle, bbd March 2013. mostly clear gold, sparkling, with a billowy white head. the nose is ever-changing and captivating: lemon juice, lemon oil, sweet banana, tulips, ginger, chamomile, white pepper, calcium and more. the chamomile is probably the most stable of aromas in this, and it becomes more difficult to get past as time goes on, but it’s a minor complaint here, because the nose is pretty outstanding in both complexity and presentation. body has distinct roundness and fullness, I’m guessing from the oats and wheat; texture is creamy and smooth; bitterness is moderate to high; wheat tartness and oat fullness present as well. it’s very rustic and old world, they nailed the yeast character perfectly. the spices (bell pepper? are you sure that’s not a mistranslation?) are kept quiet other than the chamomile. delicious, delicate, soft nose combined with surprising heft on the palate, we have a winner here.
