Countbeer (4035) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - APR 17, 2014
Bottle: Served in a shaker: Medium sized creamy snowy white foamy head on top of a hazy darker yellow colored beer. Aromas of yeast, tobacco, hay, herbs, light spices, some tea herbs, light papery tone and some citrus. Flavours of yeast, some fruit, light bitter, tobacco, herbs, light spice tone, light dry, malty, some paper, dried herbs, wheat, tea herbs and some light smoked fruity tones. Aftertaste is a mix of bitters, yeast, hay, dry, herbal and light spice... Low carbo, light creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied and a creamy light dry texture. Not sure if the past BB makes it unbalanced...

Geruch außerordentlich gewürzig, kräuterig, Beeren, Weinfass. Start süßlich und gewürzt. Anschließend malzige Elemente, Gewürze. Süß-trockener und malzbitterer Abgang. Sehr eigen, aber ok.

Tap. Hazed vibrant yellow with a lacing white head. Inviting spice nose. What is this spice? Floral and strong odor cardMum? Rare that I like a strong florL spiced saison but I do like this. Bit of lemon lingers with this.

This one poured a semi hazy orange color with an off white head. Aroma was of lemongrass, toast and light hay. Flavor was sweeter oranges, toast caramel, and lemons.

11.2oz bottle... I honor this beer by pouring it into a plain tulip glass. Nose is full of foam, yeast and ginger. Flavor adds spices and I can distinguish the coriander, though it doesn’t smell like what I have in my kitchen spice cabinet. Wheaty and slightly boozy. Metallic aftertaste. Sweet. I get lots of straw/hay. Interesting flavor to say the least.

Bottle at Eulogy. Hazy clementine pour with a soft foamy white head. Though certainly a lot of citrus notes up front, my first thought was that it had refined cheese flavor (no past reviews that I have checked seem to mention this, so it could just be me.) Orange marmalade on shortbread. Celery hearts. Green tomatoes. Dandelions. Bamboo. Chanterelles. Golden mustard. Cammomille. Persimmons. Well carbonated. Has a nice little sweet and sour bite up against some dry spicy hops. Bigger range than most similar Italian brews.

Orange colour with dense, lasting, white head. Slightly cloudy. Fruity, yeasty nose with orange peel, Seville orange and a spicy hint of pepper mint. Fruity, slightly yeasty taste with notes of citrus peel, grass, spices and herbs. Dry, perfectly harsh, with a nice, dry bitterness in the finish. Brilliant saison,

Look: Pours with huge fizzyish, medium sized bubbles white head. Rocky slow retention, breaking down into big bubbles that leave fat, thick layer on the top at the end. Cloudy, copper, wheat dark yellow with fair amount of carbonation and lacing.

Smell: Chamomile! Rancid chamomile. Feels kinda stuffy, like a chamomile tea left too long to brew. Overall herbal feel, with earthy, floral, light lemon, white wine and peppery notes. Some funky yeasty notes hidden in the herbal part.

Taste: More pepper, gingery than in the smell, herbal part a bit smoother. Rich medium sweet malty part combined with strong herbal notes make an unique herbal teal like feeling, which doesn’t really fly in my book. Light-med noble hop bitterness with some malt/wheat sweetness at the end. Sweetness goes into the sour zone with few sips.

Mouthfeel: Medium carbonation, medium body, still relatively smooth. Not too much going on tho.

Overall: Chamomile! They dominate over all other and combined with the rich malt backbone make a descent herbal tea. It is interesting, but doesn’t appeal to me. Don’t associate herbal chamomile tea with something pleasant - rancid remedy for stomach ache.
