This beer is a variation of SALLY BROWN and a result of the collaboration with Torrefazione Baracco in Parma. The nose is notably marked by coffee aromas from the high elevations of the Equatorial regions. Fragrant malt roasts harmoniously mingle with coffee exotic aromas. The mouth has a velvety body with hints of caramel, cappuccino and smoked flavor. To all those crafts men like us who daily embody their passion by creating something unique.

I have always loved good coffee, particularly Arabica, because it evokes its long mastered roasting tradition in a few enduring sips. Conventional coffee on the other hand, is spoiled by the use of Robusta beans and the excessive over roasting.
Meeting Alberto was definitely a stroke of good luck. We became friends and I ended up developing a deep appreciation for his coffee. Together we created a coffee blend that would match my beer’s aroma. Although this coffee-stout experiment started as a game, it turned out to be quite successful.

Bottle with the expiration date of december 2013. Bit in doubts about how it was stored, however it poured out very well in the glass. Black like a bulls ass with a quick disappearing off-white head. Some lacing visible. So, nothing to complain yet. Quite good. Strong coffee aroma with clear amaretto notes escape from the bottle with a powerful kick. Nutty as well, some burned brown sugars, caramel and dark chocolate. Good one. Taste is much in line with its aroma. Yet, it taste less sweet than it smells. Good coffee flavor with soft sweet notes of the sugar, nuts and the chocolate in the beginning. Nice soft roastiness as well in the middle with a bit of a smokey kick, evolving to a soft bitterish, somewhat tarty (and thus a bit disappointing) end. Not bad, but I have had better coffee-based beers. Texture is a bit oily, medium bodied with still a quite lively carbonation. In general I am somewhat surprised about this brew. It is pretty well brewed, yet it has some of it misses and is not that refined. Needs a rerate with another bottle asap.

Pours luscious coffee brown with a thick tan head. Roast quality coffee component of the aroma reaches out and touches you from half a meter away; as you close in, roast malt and semi-sweet chocolate hints make themselves known. Bold, smoky notes dominate the coffee and malt flavor, while earthy, chocolate and subtle nutty tones provide support. Texture is fairly firm but quite fizzy. Almost like a good stout mixed with an offering from Caribou Coffee. Them Italians know how to brew good beer!

Bottled. Very close to black colour with a small but longlasting beige head. Aroma is chocolate, mild toasted notes along with toffee and coffee. Flavou ris coffee, chocolate, mild tobacco and some roasted notes. Balanced and quite pleasant.

From tap at Open Baladin, Rome. Dark brown almost black color with beige head. Roasted malty, "watery" aroma, chocolate and light smoke. Sweet and light bitter taste, like the aroma, chocolate and smokey. Light to medium, thin body, flat to soft carbonation.

Bottle. Black, low fizz. Intensive clean coffee beans on nose, some chocolate, woodsy notes. Surprisingly thin body, feels almost watery. Dry, medium bitter. Loads of roastedness, coffee here. Really liked the aroma, but the body was dissapointing. Really flavourful though.

330 ml bottle from Domus Birrae. Dark brown, black looking in the glass, with a small, frothy, non persistent beige head. On the nose roasted malts, some light vanilla, milk chocolate, definitely some coffee too, but not as intense as expected. Much better in the mouth: solid bitterness upfront, relatively hoppy (herbal/grassy), plenty of coffee and chocolate notes, roasted and toasted, slightly sweet in the end. Sugary asftertaste. Very easy to drink, totally sessionable. Average carbonation, medium body, slightly oily texture. Nice.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours black with a tan head and an aroma of espresso, pure cholate and roasted malts. The taste is roasty with some complex coffee and cacao notes. A really nice stout.

Deep brown body and stable tan head. Instant coffee, mocha, bit toasty and developed yeast. Quite rich taste for the abv, with tasty roasted malts and sufficient bitterness. Well made, balanced even yet full of flavour. Yum, I like it a lot. (Fancy bottle from SpeciaalBierPakket)

33cl bottle @ home. Dark brown color, medium but long lasting creamy brownish head. Aroma coffee, smoke, honey, licorice, dark chocolate, smoke again, roasty, well balanced and moderated. Taste medium to very bitter with a very light sweetness. Full body, sticky texture, soft carbonation, medium bitter finish. Fine dessert beer, quite easy to drink compared to other stouts.

bottle shared by Marcus. Pours really dark brown. With a beige head. Aroma of coffee. Nice coffee. Not quite med body. Flavor is bitter coffee. Unusual, but it works well.
