3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a dark caramel brown that appears pitch black and opaque in the glass with a one finger beige head that quickly fades into a lasting ring. Streaks and spots of lacing left behind.
Roasted malt aroma that is dominated by deep roasted gourmet coffee that doesn’t smell burnt at all. Slight lactic presence along with hints of dark chocolate, toffee and toast but this beer’s aroma is all about the coffee.
Medium bodied but on the thinner end with a decent balance of deep, roasted coffee and sweet malt notes. The coffee isn’t as dominant as the aroma suggests and it’s a bit more acrid as well. Lots of roasted coffee up front with a subtle astringency giving way to burnt malt notes. Hints of burnt toast, dark chocolate and toffee but it’s still a bit harsh. The lactic presence from the nose is there but very faint. Not as bold or flavorful as I was expecting, especially after the nose was so promising.

Bottle. [thanks Feldthaus]
Bought @ LIVA, Kolding.
Pours completely black with a nice, small, staying, beige-brown head. Aroma has lots of coffee, light roasted malts. Dry and fairly light palate, prickly carbonation and some creaminess. Flavour has lots of coffee, dryness, chocolate, mild roasted, nuts. But mostly elegant coffee. Top balance.

Bottle from GBBF drunk at home on a day of coffee stouts. Black beer with thin lasting tan head. Clear coffee aroma. Quite full in the mouth. Solid coffee flavour throughout that is balanced. Not too powdery or dry. But full enough not to make it too watery. Coffee is like a coffee liquer, coffee flaoured dark choc truffle. Touch of tingle on the tongue on the finish. Very drinkable and good balance like I said.

Bottle. Black pour with a rocky, almost swiss cheese-like foamy brown head. Strong coffee and roasted malt in the nose along with dark chocolate and burnt chocolate cake. Taste is big coffee, chocolate covered dark, oily coffee beans, chocolate cake, roasted malt and faint milk notes. Body is medium but the carbonation is bubbly and a bit thin. Ends with more coffee notes, chocolate covered coffee beans, more cake notes, roasted malt and light milky flavors. Lacking a bit body-wise but still tasty!

Smells like the italian espresso I used to get in Naples. Tastes like iced coffee. Light on the palate. Overall a pretty good beer.
