COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Top fermented beer, a mix between Oatmeal Stouts and English Porters. Its character is defined by the 11 different types of malt aromas being used. Dark ebony, the nose is marked by roasted aromas recalling barley coffee, cacao beans and ash with a scent of caramel. It has a malty palate with creamy oats and hints of smoked flavor.
“To the traveler who will never reach his destination, to all those who don’t need reassurance to feel right”.

Although its recipe has dramatically changed with time, Sally Brown is the evolution of a type of Oatmeal Stout I used to homebrew. If A.F.O. is fully characterized by its hops, Sally Brown stands out for the use of 11 different types of malt including un-malted cereals such as oat flakes and roasted barley. Two years of investigation in the fascinating world of roasting resulted in the creation of a smooth, complex and balanced, drinkable beer. Its name comes from a Laurel Aitken’s song, one of Jamaica’s Ska forefathers, which was later covered by Bad Manners. In December of 2007, Bad Manner played a show in a venue close to Parma. I showed up during sound check to gift them a case of Sally Brown. They liked it so much they were drinking it on stage and while playing the song “Sally Brown” the lead singer said: “Sally Brown beer, the best!” .Those words filled me with incredible pride and satisfaction. That night was truly memorable.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle. The beer pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is coffee, chocolate and some roasted malt. I get a lot of malt complexity in the aroma and all of the aspects are well represented. The flavor is more of the same. The chocolate and roasted malt seem to dominate the flavor, but I also get a little bit of coffee in the flavor. Very nice overall. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Thus beer pours a deep brown almost black with a thin off white head. The aromas are nuts, bread, cinnamon. The mouthfeel is watery and lightly dry with a medium body and low carbonation. Cheers!

from Mondial de la Bière, Strasbourg - very dark brown colour with a robust creamy beige foam, nice lace; subtle aroma of malt and licorice; slightly toasted with light coffeish notes; solid and subtle carbonation; medium-bodied, some sweetness below and with a late herbal bitterness; quite dry aftertaste of licorice and chocolate - subtle and very well-made

BB date smudged so not possible to read.
Hazy dark brown color, smallish light brown head. Milk chocolate, smooth, some smoke scent, a hint vinous as well. Salty, roasted, sort of thin taste. Light metallic but mainly roasted aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, almost thinish. Medium dry bitterness.
Smells amazing, taste ver nice, not all that balanced, but I’d drink it again.

Bottle @ mondial de la bière. A brown beer with medium head. Aroma is very watery and disappointing, no real malt aroma, no real stout presence.
