Scauca (260), Lovere, Italy Mar 5, 2008 Having such a reliable first rater (JPP) for this nice dark beer, I could only add my compliments for this young brewer, crafting beers full of flavours and personality.

Very dark brown, small beige head. Aroma of chocolate abnd coffee. Medium dry with notes of orange and cocoa powder. Light bodied and very drinkable despite a slight metallic edge. Finsiehs with cocoa bitterness. fiulijn (5900), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Jun 2, 2008 Hand pump at Salone della Birra Artigianale e di Qualità 2008, Milan Black color, with big head. Delicate aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. The carbonation is absent, it has some roasted malt flavor, caramel, chocolate; the bitterness comes only from the roasted malt. Smooth but not exciting. Svesse (1821), Hässelby, Sweden May 28, 2008 (Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm) Dark brown colour, almost black, with brief pale brown head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of espresso and hints of ashes. Roasted, malty taste with dark chocolate, cocoa and black coffee. Dry, rather short finish with some cocoa bitterness. Rather thin body. Nice one, but I’d rather call this a dry stout or an english porter than a brown ale, which is also stated on the label.
