4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle 33 (Islay2002) @ joes thx to him. Pitch black colour with a light brown head that doesn?t last very long. Smells lots of peat, roasty, ash, sweet and maybe even some tar, vanilla. Tastes peaty but in a very nice, subtle way, sweet, roasty, liquorice, liquorice wood. This beer is peaty in a lovely balanced manner. Peat really takes over the taste in most other beers, but this beer hits the sweet spot. Full body, soft carbo, silky feel.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle @ Irreale. Black colour with good initial formation of a light beige head that quickly diminishes maintaining a thin layer. Aroma is toasted malts, red and ripe fruits, black chocolate, Islay whisky. In the flavor is more present the Islay whisky, notes of wood, chocolate, some ashes hints, coffee and fruits, licorice and spices. The final is slightly sweet with hints of wood, maintaining the whisky on palate.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled. Islay 2002, #919. Dark color, short head. Aroma is dominated by peat with soft roastiness underneath. Some choc. In taste a lot of different flavors starting with chocolat and roasted malts. In the end it gets dry from the islay cask and finishes with a soft bite from the peppers. Bit too peaty on the nose for me, but the taste is absolutely wonderful. Great balance does the trick.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at home (Domus Birrae) 25/12/12. Bott #0429, Speyside 1997 listed as 10%ABV.
Pours a dark cola brown approaching light black with a tan head that dissipates quickly to nyadda!
Nose is dark malts, molasses, liqourice, light chocolate, touch of wood and some whiskey notes.
Taste comprises dark roast malts, chocolate, sweet sugars, whiskey, wood tones
Fullish body but hiding that 10% ABV with a little spritz in the carbonation but not so much as to detract from the feel for me. Sweet, boozey and slighly spicy in the finish.
Not bad, totally drinkable but not blowing me away, not much depth to this compared to other offerings of the same ilk! The flavour improved as the beer warmed a little and I adjusted taste accordingly from 7 to 8.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
0.33 l bottle (10 %, Islay cask 2002). Black color. Aromas of peat smoke, tar and iodine. Sweet roasty flavor with tar, peat smoke and sea (or iodine). Full body. Good aroma and flavor but this is so whiskyish that I might as well drink plain whisky.
