Imperial stout aged for at least 6 months in barrels of whiskey from Scotland’s best distilleries (each batch is bottled from a single cask of that year and the area of origin is indicated on the label). It has aromas of vanilla, licorice, chocolate, wood and peat alternating alcoholic and ethereal nuances. In the mouth, warm and soft, complex but balanced: an unforgettable experience. Aged in Speyside Scotch barrels from 1969.

Ingredients: Water, malt, hops, yeast, spices.

33cl bottle from Grand Cru, Rimini. Islay 2002 barrels. It pours a deep dark brown color wih no head. Aroma is intense roasted wood, cocoa beans, licorice root, sea weed and ropes, light smoke and ashes, citrus. Taste is sweet and tangy at the same time, with notes of chocolate, vanilla and cranberries upfront, then some more roasted wood dry bitterness, cocoa powder, light espresso, licorice root, then more sea saltiness with tart red berries, ashy smoke, sea weed. The closing brings more dry bitterness and some alcohol kick. Body is medium to full with an oily texture and a soft to nil carbonation. Overall, a nicely joint together tasteful beer, with a showcase of Islay whisky barrels which is not overpowering. Could improve with some more carbonation and creaminess to the texture, but understand that the barrel gives and the barrel gets

At Craft & Draft. Speyside edition. Thick oily dark pour. Strong aroma of fruity scotch booze, ripe fruit and roasted peat. Rich flavor of soft smooth fruity scotch, mild peat, smoke, some coffee and some roast in the finish. Very drinkable. Awesome beer.

Bottle 246/3000 (Islay Scotch 2002) from Erzbierschof Zurich. Wow! Clear scotch aroma, could be a single malt whiskey. Light chocolate and coffee as well. Beautiful black appearance, dark, slightly oily with creamy brownish head. Taste: What a surprise - dark malts, scotch notes, medium bitter, light sweet. Feels rather thick, barely any carbonation, bitter finish. Very well balanced, although the scotch taste is noticeably dominant. One of my favorites since the first bottle. Very well done!

Black color with small beige head. So much peat. Initially, nearly Laphroaig level. Surprisingly soft taste, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, no booze at all, maybe a little bit warming. Beautiful carbonation. Very good, and different. First time I have a beer this peaty and don’t think it’s unbalanced.

Bottle (330 m). BB 01-09-2023. Bottle 1258 / 3000. Shared with JulienHuxley and SlovakSniper @ Le Saint-Bock.

Appearance: Black with a little bubbly ring of beige foam and little legs.

Aroma: Smoky scotch, iodine and peat along soy sauce, tobacco, oak and roasted malt.

Taste: Medium sweetness that is cut by the smokey/peated aspect of the beer. Soy sauce (a bit salty). Oak, chocolate notes, alcohol and light acidity.

Palate: Medium to full body. Very soft carbonation. Smokey/peated finish and a nice chocolate touch. Alcohol warmth.

Overall: Very interesting aroma where the peat/smoke presence is dominant but not overwhelming like it happen too ofen with this kind of barrel treatment. It lacks a bit of body though and, while the balance isn’t awful considering the Islay scotch presence, it’s still far from perfect. Tasty.

Bottle, shared at Saint Bock. Flat black pour. Aroma is smoky, tons of iodine, smoky islay scotch, bacon, tobacco. Taste is sweet, boozy, quite a bit of ash, mineral ashy flavor. Palate is med full bodied with low carbonation. Good.
