Imperial stout aged for at least 6 months in barrels of whiskey from Scotland’s best distilleries (each batch is bottled from a single cask of that year and the area of origin is indicated on the label). It has aromas of vanilla, licorice, chocolate, wood and peat alternating alcoholic and ethereal nuances. In the mouth, warm and soft, complex but balanced: an unforgettable experience. Aged in Speyside Scotch barrels from 1969.

Ingredients: Water, malt, hops, yeast, spices.

(bottle) pours a pitch black colour with a frothy brown head. aroma has heaps of char and peat smoke, toasted malts and espresso, with light notes of cherries and earth. flavour is overwhelmingly peaty and roasty, with light notes of dark chocolate and honey and a medium sweetness which balances out the roasted-bitter finish wonderfully. thick body with soft carbonation. the peat smoke is amazingly integrated here.

Bottle at Todomundo. Pours like engine oil, pitch black with a tan head. Smells strongly of peat, somewhat overwhelming, and chocolate, malt. Tastes a medium sweetness, a mild bitter, and spicyness with only a nice hint of the peat, but very smoothed from the aging. Full bodied. Velvety texture. Finishes well.

Bottle 33 (Islay2002) @ joes thx to him. Pitch black colour with a light brown head that doesn?t last very long. Smells lots of peat, roasty, ash, sweet and maybe even some tar, vanilla. Tastes peaty but in a very nice, subtle way, sweet, roasty, liquorice, liquorice wood. This beer is peaty in a lovely balanced manner. Peat really takes over the taste in most other beers, but this beer hits the sweet spot. Full body, soft carbo, silky feel.

Bottle: no.681: Islay 2002: Medium airy light brown head on top of a black beer. Smell whiskey, wood, liquorice, tar, clay, paint, wine-ish, yeast and light sour. Good smell. Taste earth, oak, toasted oak, nuts,  hazle nuts, roasted malts, hint of molasses, something like sweets/brown sugars, hint of coffee, medium to full bitter and some spices. Burnt wood bitter spicy earthy herby aftertaste. Low carbo, soft and light tingly mouthfeel, full body and a texture between watery and oily.

Bottled. Islay 2002, #919. Dark color, short head. Aroma is dominated by peat with soft roastiness underneath. Some choc. In taste a lot of different flavors starting with chocolat and roasted malts. In the end it gets dry from the islay cask and finishes with a soft bite from the peppers. Bit too peaty on the nose for me, but the taste is absolutely wonderful. Great balance does the trick.
