COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial Russian Stout with hot peppers.Winner of the best beer at BRAU Beviale 2008, a quaffable Imperial Stout with a medium body and a good lingering finish. Liquorice and nutty in character, the dark malt profile is shown also by the cappuccinolike foam.

Draft at the Birch. Pitch black as you’d expect. Thin tan head. The aroma is pretty caged but this drinks with a smoky bite. There’s a definite licorice kick as well. (#4458, 1/28/2012)

Bottle. Pours black with a frothy light brown head. Smells of chocolate and peppers with plenty of malt. Tastes a moderate sweet, medium bitter, and a nice spicy followup. Full bodied. Creamy texture. Finishes mildly spicy.

09/05/2012 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Nera, impenetrabile, abbondante schiuma color cappuccino, morbida e persistente.

On tap at LP. Jet black pour with a beige head. Aromas of malts, some chocolate and vanilla. Tastes of roasted malts, coffee, with the peppers remaining in the background leaving a nice burn at the finish.

Bottle c/o Rich for X-mas. Thanks! Pours dark brown, black in the glass, with a small brown head. Aromas of olive, caramel, toffee, coffee, and some vanilla/alcohol. The flavor is roasty cocoa and coffee, mocha, and toffee. Some lactose and coffee in the finish. Creamy feel, with medium carbonation and full body; dry finish. Very nice. [921]

Bottle shared by brew3crew. Poured a cloudy dark brown color with an average creamy brown head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted chocolate malt, licorice and alcohol aroma. Medium to heavy sweet toasted malt flavor with a medium to heavy sweet and small alcohol bite finish of long duration. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a standout beer.
