COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Top fermented beer which is subjected to a secondary fermentation in bottle. It is deep dark ebony in color with a cappuccino head. The nose has aromas of chocolate, licorice, coffee grounds and tobacco with alcohol nuances. Its full bodied, long lasting, smooth and dry mouth is followed by a surprisingly hot finish that breaks its initial fullness and makes you crave more!

It is suitable for aging.

Dedicating one of our beers to Giuseppe Verdi was a must since our microbrewery is located in Roncole Verdi, the composerís birth place. When I returned from my first visit to New York City I decided to create a beer that would be superior in elegance, balance and drinkability to all those stout varieties I had overseas. Although the initial recipe has changed, the very first batch matched my vision. Its uniqueness lays in the use of chili pepper which combines very well with the beerís chocolate aroma. The hot finish also lightens its full bodied mouth by awakening the palate.

Verdi Imperial Stout is the first Italian craft beer to have ever been crowned with a gold medal in its category at an International beer contest. In 2008 it ranked first at The European Beer Star in the Imperial Stout category.

Old rate from back in January. From a bottle. Black, small tan head. Slightly vegetal nose, with chocolate and chilis. Light body for an impy, but I love the way the chilis develop. They give it a low, slow burn, but nothing that really detracts. Like a chili chocolate bar in a glass. Still slightly vegetal, which is a bit of a turn-off. Definitely good, but not as good as the lighter brews Iíve had from them.

Tap@ TCBW2015. Pitch black color. Medium size, brown head, stays. Deep roast, sweet, chocolate, licorice, faint coffee in aroma. Sweetish, light roast, paprika, chilly peppers in taste. Love how the roast and chilly burn mix. At first it feels thin and watery, but when the chilly kicks in and completes the roast its WOW! Very well done brew!

A nice and pretty smooth beer. Roast, chocolate, licorice, booze. The chili heats builds up in the mouth and somehow works pretty well. Strong stuff.

Bottle@Camba Tap House, M‹ 2015/3 post-BKL. Heavy burnt bitter chocolate, roast, ash and black pepper are joined by smooth slow-roast meaty red paprika in the mid part, before the firy chili kicks in, delivering a tongue and throat warming burn, trading in UK ImpStout balance for warmblooded Romance overstatement. A bit less balanced than some chili-spiked 80% fondant chocolates Iíve liked, but still enjoyable for half a bottle. - Like Verdiís opera, this potent creative brew brims with expressive character and fire, making it a beer to split its audience (if not quite their palates and larynxes) down the middle.

Tap @ Bishop Folkis. Muddy black/brown, short tanned head. Licorice, chocolate, coffee grounds and some chili in the aroma. Sweet and a bit like cough medicin. Sweet, licorice, old cold coffee, hints of dark bitter chocolate and with a pronounced chili heat that grows and lingers but never really go over the top (for me). Medium, soft, slight oily. Decent. But not that exiting.

Pours darker than dark matter with a quick diminishing sugary brown head. Beautiful Stout aroma of dark fruits, chocolate, nuts and coffee. Something quite autumn-like as well. Canít describe it, but it makes the nose absolutely stunning. Taste is sweet with nice tones of coffee, sugar, dark chocolate and even liquorice. Somewhat roasty in the middle and a nice, warmish coffee and pepper end which is moderately bitter with a nice nutty undertone. Absolutely rich in flavor, beautifully balanced and somewhat complex too. Tasty tenner! Nice oily texture as well. Beautiful round mouthfeel and a well carbonated as well. Wonderful brew in every aspect, deserves a far better rating than a 3,7 average.
