Top fermented beer which is subjected to a secondary fermentation in bottle. It is deep dark ebony in color with a cappuccino head. The nose has aromas of chocolate, licorice, coffee grounds and tobacco with alcohol nuances. Its full bodied, long lasting, smooth and dry mouth is followed by a surprisingly hot finish that breaks its initial fullness and makes you crave more!

It is suitable for aging.

Dedicating one of our beers to Giuseppe Verdi was a must since our microbrewery is located in Roncole Verdi, the composer’s birth place. When I returned from my first visit to New York City I decided to create a beer that would be superior in elegance, balance and drinkability to all those stout varieties I had overseas. Although the initial recipe has changed, the very first batch matched my vision. Its uniqueness lays in the use of chili pepper which combines very well with the beer’s chocolate aroma. The hot finish also lightens its full bodied mouth by awakening the palate.

Verdi Imperial Stout is the first Italian craft beer to have ever been crowned with a gold medal in its category at an International beer contest. In 2008 it ranked first at The European Beer Star in the Imperial Stout category.

22.03.2014, 0,33l bottle @ home:
Big light brown creamy longlasting head. Aroma is very mild, almost a little neutral, dark malts, caramel, hay, grass, chocolate, coffee, hints of lactoce and chili. Taste is slightly dry and roasted, dark malts, chili, caramel, coffee, chocolate, roasted nuts, roasted grain, hay, dark sugar. Medium bitterness, nice slightly warming chili touch. Nice, but I kind of expected more from this as well.

Bottle, 33cL. Home. A nearly black beer with a large fine brown head. Medium persistence. Spicy aroma, caramel, liquorice, coffee, pepper, roasted. Hot sauce. Heavy peppery bitter, then warming medium sweet. Heavy body, medium texture. Soft carbonation. Hot sauce warming finish. Overall, a great beer. Reminds me of a pepresso. Beware of the dragon !

330ml bottle shared with Calm_Dreamer at The Hoppy Pub, Thessalonikh Greece. Black color with a thin brown head. Aromas of coffee and pepper oils. Similar taste, with some chocolate added. Mild sweet aftertaste. Medium to full body, syrupy, with low carbonation.

Draught at Thai Me Up. Pours black with a nice head and impressive lace. Aroma is slightly sour, dark fresh roast, a little licorice, earth. Flavor is very similar, veering bitter with subdued sweetness, and long earthy licorice finish. Feel is very lively but with a dusty density. Really nice surprise in this one.

Nice. Really nice. Foamy pour. Good not particularly sweet spice. But the kicker here is SPICE! Wow. Really hits you at the back end. Recommended.

Cerveja com aroma bastante complexos, com chocolate, café, tostado, especiarias e álcool. Na boca os aromas se repetem e apresenta bastante pungência e secura.

Sample at RBWG Thursday night. Poured thinner density pitch black body with a smaller beige head. Aroma and flavor are overloaded with Scotch. Some burnt toast, ash and bitter bakers dark chocolate. Thinner body with soft carbonation. Another one I’m against the popular opinion on.

Draft at Appalachian Vintner for RBWG. Pours a deep brown with some amber highlights and a small ring for a head. Notes of smoke, chocolate, roasted malts, peat, and Scotch. Medium-full bodied, with low to moderate carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel. So rich.
