3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 bierkoning (8099) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - OCT 27, 2008
Bottle @ LCRBM 2008. Hot chili? Are you kidding? Didn’t taste anything of it.. Roast and licorice in the aroma. Licorice, coffee and cardemom in the sweetish flavor. Apple syrup. Nothing special, though drinkable.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jbrus (4990) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - OCT 26, 2008

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 ricksivrea (11) - Ivrea, ITALY - OCT 11, 2008
a very good bier, strong, but not too hard to drink.
Great flavours of cocoa, coffee and smoke, perfect on a roast meat.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Hugh (144) - Zillebeke, BELGIUM - SEP 7, 2008
Bottle courtesy of Alex. Very satisfactory ’Imperial Stout Light’, Black-deep red colour with stable, short head. Smooth, balanced beer with deep flavours of cocoa/coffee/liquorice/dark fruits/smoke/chocolate/nut/wood/tarmac (select any three of these, it was that sort of beer). This is the show pony of this brewery.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 MesandSim (7109) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 24, 2008
A Mes rate: bottle at GBBF thanks to the brewer. This was actually 8.2% for what it’s worth. An almost black brown colour with a thin but well behaved tan head. Lovely roasted chocolate malt in the aroma with lots of red wine notes. The flavour is an excellent balance of alcohol and dark barrelly malt. Rich and warm and really pleasing all round.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 beeR (60) - Helsinki, FINLAND - AUG 15, 2008
33 cl very well designed bottle. Dark brown-black beer, with a frothy lasting light brownhead, medium sized bubbles. Strong and penetrating aroma, dominated by rasted malt and cocoa, alcohol only when the beer has time to warm a little bit. It matches very well with the strong roasty taste, with spicy hints and a warming alcohol coming out at the end but which coats the mouth for some minutes. Smooth anf full body. Well balanced.

Bottled - GBBF2008. A black beer with a frothy coffee coloured head. A rich, roasty aroma, with some oily smokiness, and nice hops. The taste is smooth, roasty and smoky. Fairly restrained as far as the roastiness is concerned. Pretty good.
