Top fermented beer which is subjected to a secondary fermentation in bottle. It is deep dark ebony in color with a cappuccino head. The nose has aromas of chocolate, licorice, coffee grounds and tobacco with alcohol nuances. Its full bodied, long lasting, smooth and dry mouth is followed by a surprisingly hot finish that breaks its initial fullness and makes you crave more!

It is suitable for aging.

Dedicating one of our beers to Giuseppe Verdi was a must since our microbrewery is located in Roncole Verdi, the composer’s birth place. When I returned from my first visit to New York City I decided to create a beer that would be superior in elegance, balance and drinkability to all those stout varieties I had overseas. Although the initial recipe has changed, the very first batch matched my vision. Its uniqueness lays in the use of chili pepper which combines very well with the beer’s chocolate aroma. The hot finish also lightens its full bodied mouth by awakening the palate.

Verdi Imperial Stout is the first Italian craft beer to have ever been crowned with a gold medal in its category at an International beer contest. In 2008 it ranked first at The European Beer Star in the Imperial Stout category.

Tan foam, black liquid, the foam shrinks fast with little lacing left behind. I get roasted malt, coffee, chocolate of the dark kind, licorice, and a fruity/boozy aroma reminiscent of something which was barell aged. I get chocolate and roasted malt out of the gate, hints of coffee, definite licorice...some booze. I would call it medium bodied with lightish carbonation. A very good tasting Imperial Stout that however, drinks a lot stronger than what the abv is. Still, I cannot give it a thumbs down by any means.

Tap. Black body with a small, lacing tan head. Aroma of slightly roasted malt, chocolate and coffee notes. Sweet flavor that ends up slightly more dry. Medium bodied oily texture and soft carbonation. A very nice Impy.

Draught @ Fermentoren, Århus. Pours black with a small brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, light caramel, dried dark fruit, dates. Flavor is rich malty, caramel, chcoolate, dark fruit, dates, raisins. Medium to full body, gentle lively carbonation, light warming alcoholic finish. 251014

bottle @ Vino Bellissimo / Lima OH --- Opaque brown/black wityh a tan head cover, light swirls of lace. Taste is chocolate malt that grows nicely into the palate before turning slightly bitter and slightly hotter in the finish. A unique brew, balanced, but not a combination I can fully embrace.

"just over 8% these days, brewed with peppers, but the velvety smoothness is the star of the show here. aroma subdued and "new" while the cholately malt, coffee flavor, with just a hint of pepper at the back end was nice as well.

Active bottle: pours clear and black with a huge brown head, which disappears to a small and unkempt-looking top. The aroma is warm with dark malts, molasses, oats. The flavour is lightly sweet and bitter, with toasted and dark malts, oats, bitter chocolate, light coffee, with a chilli flavour that becomes a lightly burning sensation. The body is almost full and has a nice texture, undoubtedly from the oats.

Bue en bouteille de 37.5cl au Sherwood Pub (Nicorvo), dans une belle bouteille avec une étiquette léchée. Couleur noire, peu de mousse et d’effervescence, une bière assez riche avec une note café en début de bouche légèrement poivrée, deuxième bouche chocolat et mélange café sur le macchiatto excellente.
