Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a tan head and a deep brown, near black body. Aroma of tar, chocolate, brown sugar and molasses. Taste is chocolate, and light pepper heat at the back with some earthy notes in between. Medium viscosity and light carbonation.

Black color and creamy foam, the aroma is warm and attractive with prevalence of chocolate and coffee, the body is structured; but the true delight is the taste that evolves him in a dry and imposing spicy, that leaves the very clean mouth from the bitterish one. Good Imperial.

Near black colored with red hints, little light brown head. Licoricy aroma with roastiness, peppery spices and salt, vanilla and dry cocoa come up too. Medium to full bodied. Flavor is also smooth with roastiness in start, cocoa and thin vanilla here too. Strong pepper comes up and lasts in aftertaste, still fits here ok, does not cover anything else.

Thanks Doug! Dark charcoal aroma, little waxy and a hint of spice. But only suggestively. Jet black, tan head, moderate lacing. Full mouthfeel, a larger gulp revealed the chipotle smoky heat and sting that is tempered nicely by the burnt grain and creamy body. Dig the twist.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of sweet malt, roasted malt, and a bit of bourbon. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt and alcohol. The body is light compared to the flavors.

Bottle. The appearance is a fine pitch black, dark brown head. The aroma is pleasant with plenty of chocolate, coffee, raisins and a little sweetness in the background. The beer tastes like it smells, a lot of chocolate and roasted notes. The aftertaste was a bit spicy, interesting.

Tap at Ginger Man. Aroma of gently roasted malt, molasses, toffee, cake. Flavor has all the delicate sweet notes, medium rich, with an equally soft though not subtle pepper spice coating. I hadn’t picked up on the peppers at all in the aroma, and even in the mouth, they were far less aggressive (fortunately) than I thought they’d be, really seeming to play more of a hop-substitute roll with hot spice to balance the rich malt instead of bitter hops. Interesting and tasty beer.

Bottle at home ... deep black ... creamy tan head ... light roast malt ... soft thin roast ... little toffee ... some liquorice ...little spice ... actually the spice/chilli does build ... in fact i hadnt realised the hot peppers was there till i read description looking to see if i was imagining the burn ..nice but not stunning ... but the hot pepper clearly raises this beer above the mundain.
