Top fermented beer which is subjected to a secondary fermentation in bottle. It is deep dark ebony in color with a cappuccino head. The nose has aromas of chocolate, licorice, coffee grounds and tobacco with alcohol nuances. Its full bodied, long lasting, smooth and dry mouth is followed by a surprisingly hot finish that breaks its initial fullness and makes you crave more!

It is suitable for aging.

Dedicating one of our beers to Giuseppe Verdi was a must since our microbrewery is located in Roncole Verdi, the composer’s birth place. When I returned from my first visit to New York City I decided to create a beer that would be superior in elegance, balance and drinkability to all those stout varieties I had overseas. Although the initial recipe has changed, the very first batch matched my vision. Its uniqueness lays in the use of chili pepper which combines very well with the beer’s chocolate aroma. The hot finish also lightens its full bodied mouth by awakening the palate.

Verdi Imperial Stout is the first Italian craft beer to have ever been crowned with a gold medal in its category at an International beer contest. In 2008 it ranked first at The European Beer Star in the Imperial Stout category.

Opaque black color, small but steady brown head. Aroma of coffee, coffee beans (slightly vegetably) and dark chocolate. Medium to full bodied. Very coffeish impy with coffee liquer-alcohol finish. Coffee beans, some ash. Alcoholic and peppery finish. Reasonably ok Italian imperial stout.

Much better than I expected- an Imperial Stout from Italy? Roasted malts, black licorice and mocha/ coffee bean on the creamy mouthfeel, with chile spice notes and dark chocolate brownie undertones. Nice hop backbone, with spices lingering.

Shared with Travlr in Baltimore. Jet black oil pour with med brown head that coats the sides of the glass. Nice chocolate aroma - transfers exact to the tastebuds with the added coffee flavors. Nice base standard for a stout. Nothing crazy, just good.

black pour with small tan head. aroma of milk chocolate coated peppers, black licorice, sourness and roasted coffee. very unique for the style. slick, creamy mouthfeel gives rises to jalapeno, coffee grounds, cocoa, and molasses. dry, nutty finish, with just a touch of bitterness. i really enjoyed this, as it opened up quite nicely after some initial warming

(Bottled) Almost black with a largeish, beige head. Strong aroma of black coffee, some chocolate, spices, and roasted-burned malt. Peppery-spicy flavor with lots of roasted coffee, almost burned malt, oatmeal sourness, reasonably bitter hops, syrup. Medium to full body, soft carbonation. A decent IS for coffee lovers, but too ashy-roasty for me. 5446

330mL bottle in Frubee, flute-esque glass. Pours black with a small-medium tan head. Cannot see through it, looks appetizing. Aroma is all chocolate for me. As it warms becomes fumy-woodsy with cappuccino-ash. Flavor is all warm chocolate with more cappuccino background. Low on bitterness till the very end, with just enough sweetness that is counterbalanced by a woodsy-earthy character. Delicious to drink.
