Questa è la birra che decisi di creare per celebrare il mio matrimonio, in omaggio alla mia sposa che ha sempre avuto una predilezione per le Rauch. La città di Bamberg con le sue tradizionali birre affumicate ci è rimasta nel cuore; l’abbiamo girata in lungo e in largo, abbiamo indugiato sui tavoli delle sue birrerie e ci siamo fermati tante volte a contemplare i rivoli d’acqua del fiume Regnitz.
Al matrimonio ci furono circa duecento invitati e 450 litri di birra a disposizione. Ricordo che il giovedì mi trovavo ancora a Tettnang a selezionare il luppolo del nuovo raccolto e mi dovevo sposare il sabato, per decorare la festa portai dieci piante intere di luppolo appena staccate dal campo. Invece del riso gli invitati ci lanciarono fiori di luppolo e nel taschino della giacca portai un rametto di luppolo in fiore. Quella del matrimonio fu a detta di molti la festa più bella di tutta la loro vita, fu una cosa davvero memorabile. Vendemmo la birra non consumata ai nostri clienti ai quali piacque così tanto che decidemmo di continuare a produrla e ora è entrata a far parte della famiglia.

I created this beer to celebrate my wedding and my bride who has always loved Rauch beers. The city of Bamberg is particularly dear to us. We ventured through its streets, indulged in its well known smoked beers and stood together contemplating the water ripples of the river Regnitz.
Being in Tettnang 2 days before the wedding to select the newly harvested hops, I brought back 10 freshly uprooted hop plants to decorate the wedding reception. Instead of the traditional rice tossing, the guests showered us with hop flowers. My weeding suit was garmented by a small hop blossom as well. With more than 200 guests and 450 liters of beer, many remember our celebration as one of the most memorable gatherings they have ever attended.
Selling the leftover beer to some clients was such a success that we decided to keep brewing it. It is now part of our beer family!

Bottle @ home. Aroma is sharp smokey malt, some rye like notes, some hay and metal. Flavour is bready malt, smoke, metallic notes. Okay.

Keg from the Italian bar at Mercato Metropolitano, just south of Borough, Elephant and Castle area I guess. We consumed on site Saturday 8th October 2016 Mid gold in colour a little hazy, nice serving temperature. This is smokey on the nose and just as smokey in the mouth. Soft mouthfeel, this is lagery but the smokiness really changes things. Like this. A7 A3 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

Draft 0.15l at Craft & Draft Amsterdam, The Netherlands. 19.06.2016. Taste with Ogi. Pour it clear amber color with small white head. Aroma sweet caramel malt, pinch of smoked feel. Taste caramel, bread, smoke, earthy, finish kind of salty, little bit flat, soft body, average carbonation, abrupt finish.

Appearance of a clear, watery cola. Uneven but large head with a creamy texture. Aroma is charcoal, marinated steak, and licorice, though it’s ultimately a bit too subtle. Taste is similar, with some caramel onions and charred meat. Thin texture.

Tap. Italian Job, Chiswick, London. Hazy brown. Bubbly, lasting, beige head. Nose has savoury smoke. Very meaty. Some wood smoke. Bit of a dry roasted peanut thing. Taste is light, smokey sweet. Clean mouthfeel, surprisingly. Light bitterness on the finish, with the sweet, savoury smoke lingering throughout.

Bärnstensfärgad, disig med rätt litet, snabbt falnande skum. Maltig, lite fruktig doft med tydliga röktoner, mest år charkuterihållet. Lätt rökig smak, charkuterier, plus en lite sötaktig fruktighet och en lättsam efterbeska. En trevlig rököl av den milda sorten, men kanske lite tunn. 2014-05-24

(Bottle) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, smoky nose with dried fruit, smoked ham, rye bread, a touch of honey and some tobacco. Malty, smoky taste with notes of caramel, dried fruit, smoked ham, tobacco, rye bread, orange peel a gentle floral bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Well made rauchbier, with a balanced smoke character. Quite nice.

Bottle 33 cl. Amber, hazy with a medium offwhite head. Smoke, malt and light caramel sense. Sweet taste, lift bitter with a soft smoke end.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet, Kvadrat. Pours dirty brown with a huge creamy off-white head. Aroma is malty with a weak cured meat addition, light smoke as well, like a bonfire from yesterday. Taste is moderate sweet caramel, overpowering the light smoked note, which almost disappears in this one. Creamy mouthfeel, low carbonated.
