Birrificio del Ducato Winterlude Tripel

This was a gift from John at Johnny’s Off License, Rome. Cloudy, dark brown with lots of sediment. Aroma has yeast, brown sugar, and fruit. Sweet flavor. Well carbonated, and tall head. Interesting appearance for a tripel. Full flavored, and very Belgian in character. John was concerned the bottle might be bad but I thought this was one of the best beers I had during my Italian holiday.

Bottle. Muddy brown, Molasses, grapefruit. The aroma is a bit sweet and sour. Rather true to style Beligan tripel with the characteristic sourness and yeastiness. Some pepper and soy sauce. Enjoyable? Yes. Outstanding? No. I had planned to bring this home, but the cork leaked on the Milano-Parma train ride, so it was deemed unfit for check in luggage.

Bottle, 8.4%. Cloudy orange colour. The flavour is citric and slightly sweet. Has some Belgian yeast notes as well as an orangey fruitiness and citricness. Slightly syrupy mouthfeel. I had expected something darker and sweeter, and that the alcohol flavour with be more evident.

Huge, towering yellow head over hazy orange beer. Orange aroma, estery and fruity, bananaester. Sweet, malty taste, but essentialy some oxydized malts. Very carbonated MF, long lasting sweetness. Too oxydized in the main taste.

Hazy light amber color. It has a good malty aroma, a bit fruity, with a shade of Belgian character. Good body strength, full malty, round, dynamic flavor. Well structured. Excellent.
